I doubt it will be like a massive opera, loudly and boldly crashing right back into your life.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps it looks like this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One song starts to feel good.<\/li>\n<li>You might not skip songs or playlists.<\/li>\n<li>You start humming a song to yourself without noticing it at first.<\/li>\n<li>You want to press the play button again.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Those tiny moments, the ones that almost go unnoticed, can be signs that something is beginning to shift.<\/p>\n<p>And they matter. Truly.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>When curiosity returns<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>That\u2019s when curiosity can return, too.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps you start to wonder about things. You stop and ask yourself questions such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What\u2019s that song?<\/li>\n<li>What else has this artist done?<\/li>\n<li>Maybe I\u2019ll listen to something while I cook.<\/li>\n<li>Maybe I\u2019ll check an old playlist.<\/li>\n<li>That rain sound is actually soothing again.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not as if you suddenly feel a deep connection with music again, but a sense of curiosity is coming back.<\/p>\n<p>And that in itself can be lovely.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Don\u2019t force it<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Be mindful not to rush or force yourself to \u201cget back into music.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Just because it feels good again doesn\u2019t mean your whole being is ready for more.<\/p>\n<p>One song might be enough.<\/p>\n<p>Silence can slowly start to be filled with other sounds or music again.<\/p>\n<p>Some days you might want music; other days you might still want silence.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not going backwards.<\/p>\n<p>It can simply be part of finding your way back to music.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Your relationship with music might be different<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When I started to dive back into music, I noticed very quickly that my relationship with it had changed to a degree. It wasn\u2019t the same anymore.<\/p>\n<p>I started to, at times:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>listen to it differently and notice different things in the song or in my body<\/li>\n<li>realise that old songs meant something new to me<\/li>\n<li>become more selective about what I listened to<\/li>\n<li>balance silence with music, and that balance felt right<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And you know what?<\/p>\n<p>That is totally okay.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not about having the exact same relationship with music that you had before.<\/p>\n<p>This rediscovery can actually be fun and eye-opening as we discover who we are now.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The return can be quiet<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The return to music, after a pause for whatever reason, is most likely a quiet path that slowly moves towards sound again.<\/p>\n<p>Slowly but surely, you:<\/p>\n<p>Listen to one song.<\/p>\n<p>Start humming again.<\/p>\n<p>Think:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cOh, I want to hear that again.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And this is enough.<\/p>\n<p>I would love for you to remember this:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Music doesn\u2019t necessarily come back all at once.
