Mysuru: <\/strong>With some vehicle owners seeking more time to remove abandoned vehicles from footpaths and other public places, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has given a final deadline of Sept. 12, 2026, to clear them, making it clear that there will be no further extension.<\/p>\n The MCC had launched a drive similar to \u2018Operation Footpath\u2019 on Aug. 4, following the Star of Mysore report titled \u2018Car Garbage\u2019 published on July 13, which highlighted the menace of abandoned vehicles in the city and the danger they pose to curious children.<\/p>\n The MCC initially fixed Aug. 15 as the deadline for owners of abandoned vehicles to remove them from footpaths and other public places. Notices were pasted on the vehicles, asking owners to remove them immediately.<\/p>\n The deadline was later extended to Aug. 31 to give vehicle owners more time to respond to the MCC notices. Staff again pasted notices on the vehicles, asking owners to clear them before the revised deadline. With some owners seeking further time, the MCC has now given them a final deadline of Sept. 12 and ruled out any further extension.<\/p>\n In a press release issued in this regard, the MCC said, abandoned vehicles that have been issued notices but continue to remain on public roads, footpaths and other public places will be removed from Sept. 13 by towing them away with the assistance of the jurisdictional Police Stations.<\/p>\n The action will be taken under Sections 122, 127(1), 127(2), 127(3) and 201 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles (Driving) Regulations, 2017. The cost incurred in removing the vehicles will be recovered from the respective owners as per the rules.<\/p>\n The MCC has urged owners of abandoned vehicles to treat Sept. 12 as the final opportunity to remove them voluntarily and cooperate with the Civic Body. From Sept. 13, the MCC will remove the vehicles without issuing any further notice.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
