Yet one problem area was left unaddressed: left-back. <b>Michael Carrick<\/b> currently has only <b>Luke Shaw<\/b> as a recognised option in that role.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">While <b>Patrick Dorgu<\/b> can operate defensively, his qualities are better suited to a more advanced position, meaning United are expected to reignite their search for a long-term left-back solution once 2027 begins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Newcastle\u2019s Lewis Hall Remains the Target<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">According to journalist <b>Graeme Bailey<\/b>, United are preparing to renew their pursuit of <b>Newcastle United<\/b> left-back <b>Lewis Hall<\/b>. The Magpies resisted selling him this summer and, per the <i>Daily Mail<\/i>, have placed a <b>\u00a375 million<\/b> valuation on the 22-year-old.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/HRIKm0ZWAAAfKnu.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Hall is reportedly open to a move to Old Trafford, but Newcastle remain determined to keep him, with hopes that new manager <b>Matthias Jaissle<\/b> can convince him of the club\u2019s long-term project through a contract extension.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Why Hall Could Be Available Next Summer<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Jaissle has impressed early at Newcastle, securing a 2-2 draw against <b>Liverpool<\/b> and a 2-0 win over <b>Tottenham Hotspur<\/b>, despite replacing <b>Eddie Howe<\/b> amid several key departures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Newcastle may fall short of Champions League qualification but remain in contention for the Europa League or Conference League \u2014 competitions in which Hall would play a central role.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Given this, a January move for United looks unlikely. Next summer appears the more realistic window, particularly if Newcastle miss out on European football again.
