Simboroba’s “Where the Money Dey” Brings Hustle to Afrobeats

At the heart of the record is a question many people know too well: “Where the money dey?” It is short, direct, and easy to remember, but it also says a lot about life. For many young people, the search for success is not only about getting rich.

It is about finding a way forward, helping family, reaching personal goals, and refusing to stop when things become difficult.

Simboroba uses that feeling as the main idea behind the song, giving “Where the Money Dey” a message that should connect with listeners who understand the pressure and hope that come with chasing a better life.

-

Simboroba keeps the message simple

One of the strengths of “Where the Money Dey” is the simple idea behind it. The song comes from the kind of everyday talk that happens when people discuss work, money, and opportunities. Instead of making the subject feel distant, Simboroba turns it into something musical and easy to relate to.

The repeated phrase “Where the money dey?” gives the record a strong centre. It is the sort of line that can quickly stick in the mind and become part of the song’s identity.

Rather than presenting success as something that comes without effort, Simboroba focuses on the hustle. The record speaks to people who keep working, keep planning, and keep believing even when the results are slow.

Musically, “Where the Money Dey” sits comfortably within the world of modern Afrobeats, while Simboroba’s wider sound also draws from Highlife and contemporary African music. This combination gives him room to make music that can be enjoyed for its rhythm while still carrying a clear message.

That balance is important. A song about ambition could easily become too serious, but Simboroba appears to understand that music can deliver a message without losing its fun. The energy of the record helps keep the subject light enough for everyday listening while the theme remains clear.

For listeners who enjoy Nigerian Afrobeats, Afrobeat music and African music with a message, the single has the ingredients of a record that can fit naturally into playlists built around motivation, hustle and good energy.

Simboroba’s background also adds another layer to his music. Beyond being a recording artist, he works across several creative and professional fields, including music production, filmmaking, media and engineering.

That mix of interests shows in how he approaches his art, with creativity and everyday experiences feeding into his songs.

His previous releases, including “Baby Boo” and “We Don’t Tire,” have helped establish the direction of his growing catalogue. With “Where the Money Dey,” he turns his attention to one of the biggest subjects in everyday life: the desire to make progress.

The song’s appeal comes from how easy it is to understand. You do not need to be in the same place in life as Simboroba to understand the feeling behind it.

Anyone who has searched for a job, built a business, chased a dream, or hoped for better days can find something familiar in the record.
