The morale hidden obstacles that are getting in the way of leading your organization are not insurmountable. In this post, I highlight the hidden obstacles and clarify their source and what to do. <\/span><\/p>\n

Leading Morale Hidden Obstacles<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Beyond what you can see regarding morale, as a leader you must find the hidden obstacles to great morale and address them. Such as \u2026 <\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. \n

    Regret. <\/strong> This can occupy your employees\u2019 minds and reduce morale and performance. Sources of regret can include regret that they didn\u2019t take the other job offer, dismay that they asked for help with a project and others labeled them needy<\/em>, disappointment over trusting a co-worker who betrayed them, etc\u2026 Suggestion:<\/strong> Learn about your employees and establish good relationships with them. You will more likely see this hidden obstacle the more you know them. Also, lead with the phrase, \u201cwe all learn every day. Let\u2019s not regret our missteps; grow from them!\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    Biases.<\/strong> The combination of differences among employees and learned thoughts and entitlements can feed biases. Yet biases block teamwork and this hurts morale and performance. Suggestion:<\/strong> Respect feelings and diverse views to overcome biases.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    And \u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n
  3. \n

    Insecurity.<\/strong> Even those who seem the most confident, can be insecure about their abilities. This undermines morale and performance. Help everyone to see their true potential. Suggestion:<\/strong> Hold a team session to highlight employees\u2019 individual talents and how they contribute to the whole organization.<\/a> <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    Jealousy & Resentment.<\/strong> Jealousy and resentment grow when people don\u2019t see other\u2019s struggles. Their insecurity drives them to feel bad about themselves and resent others. Suggestion:<\/strong> Leadership steps to reduce jealousy & increase performance<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Summary<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

    As you uncover morale hidden obstacles and address these factors, you will lead morale and great performance. Replace any desire you might have to overlook these obstacles with your emotional intelligence to remove these hidden obstacles. <\/span><\/p>\n
