But they relented, citing persistence from Palantir.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">Sarah Brown, Khan\u2019s former director of communications, who now works for the prime minister, Andy Burnham, will also have her correspondence searched.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">The proposed two-year deal would have allowed Palantir, which works for the Israeli military and the Trump administration in its immigration crackdown, to provide AI technology to automate intelligence analysis in criminal investigations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">But the Mayor\u2019s Office for Policing and Crime (Mopac), which oversees large Scotland Yard contracts, said there had been a \u201cclear and serious breach\u201d of procurement rules. These will then be disclosed to Palantir.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">Joseph Barrett KC, for the mayor\u2019s office, said in written submissions: \u201cMopac did not originally consider it necessary or proportionate for the mayor to be added as a custodian, given that the decision was taken by the deputy mayor for policing and crime; his senior position; and the likelihood that any documents held by him would be held by other individuals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">\u201cHowever, Palantir has persisted in its requests, and Mopac has consented on a pragmatic basis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">Brown, who in July moved from the mayor\u2019s office to be appointed director of communications at Downing Street, was also listed as a custodian, meaning she too will have her correspondence searched, the court heard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-1s160rg\">The decision to include Brown comes after Palantir said in court documents outlining its claim that press articles regarding the mayor\u2019s office vetoing the Met deal cited concerns about Palantir\u2019s values and ethics.
