Vernaccia<\/span> di San Gimignano was one of my first white wines of Italy that I came to enjoy<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>It also was <\/span>Italy\u2018<\/span>s first DOC in 1966<\/span> an<\/span>d is stil<\/span>l Tu<\/span>scany\u2019s only white wine with the DOCG designation<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span> <\/span>Let\u2019s<\/span> <\/span>take a look<\/span> at this quaint Tus<\/span>can<\/span> town and the Panizz<\/span>i winery, which<\/span> is the focus of today\u2019s tasting.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I find <\/span>It’s<\/span> easier to relate to something when you have visited the area from which something originates from<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span> I have always loved the medieval\u00a0tower driven, walled town of San Gimignano set in the Siena province of northwest Tuscany<\/span>.\u00a0 <\/span>It\u2019s<\/span> also a UNESCO World Heritage site with its 14 <\/span>medieval <\/span>towers that <\/span>still remain<\/span> that were once built by<\/span> 13<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span> century rival<\/span> noble families<\/span> where height ruled<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It\u2019s<\/span> such a great town to explore whether you stay over or make it one of your stops while <\/span>you\u2019re<\/span> touring the Tuscan countryside<\/span>. \u00a0<\/span>Just make sure to sit back and have a glass of their <\/span>Vernaccia<\/span> di San Gimignano in one of the many cellars open for tasting in the town center or just grab a gelato and take in the dai<\/span>ly living of the locals.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
