Whether your purebred or mixed-breed dog is an aspiring Canine Good Citizen, Trick Dog, or just a beloved companion, the AKC Family Dog Program is for you!<\/p>\n

Did you know that with less than $50 and 30 minutes a day, your dog can be a champion AKC Family Dog?<\/p>\n

In fact, in most cases, it will take less time and be completely FREE!<\/p>\n

AKC Family Dog is a relatively new comprehensive good manners program for all dogs, whether purebred or mixed breed<\/a>. While participating in activities that are enjoyable for both dogs and people, dogs become well-socialized and develop a lifelong loving relationship with their owners.<\/p>\n

Within the AKC Family Dog Program<\/a>, there are ten different challenges or tests \u2013 you get to choose which one(s) you want to participate in.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

While most of these tests are done in person, there are now two that are allowed to be submitted via video, AKC Trick Dog and the AKC Puppy & Adult Virtual Home Manners.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

When your dog passes one or more of these tests, they will be awarded a title and sometimes a ribbon with the option of including title designations after your dog\u2019s name<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

You may be asking, \u201cWhat do the initials after a dog\u2019s name mean?\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

That is what we are going to cover in this post.\u00a0 I want to share with you the plethora of opportunities you have to participate and win titles with your dog through the AKC Family Dog program.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you have a mixed-breed dog there is one additional step you will need to take to participate in the AKC Family Dog program, but it\u2019s super simple and takes just a few minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We will cover all of those details shortly.\u00a0<\/p>\n
