<\/a><\/figure>\nThis is, alas, pretty much who I would expect to be named a \u201cdeputy of the year\u201d by a law enforcement agency in Florida:<\/a><\/p>\n Brevard County deputy sheriff Michael Fultz resigned from the force after an internal investigation detailed extreme cases of alleged sexual misconduct, racism, and abuse, including Fultz\u2019s use of Flock to stalk his ex-girlfriend. News6 in Florida\u00a0first reported the story<\/u><\/a>, and 404 Media has uncovered additional details about the former deputy\u2019s use of Flock after obtaining a copy of the investigation.\u00a0<\/p>\n Hired in 2024, Brevard County named Fultz its Deputy of the Year in 2025. The day of the ceremony Fultz\u2019s ex-girlfriend sent a letter of complaint to the sheriff\u2019s office with a long list of complaints about his behavior. The letter was enough to prompt the sheriffs to investigate Fultz which is when they discovered he\u2019d used Flock to stalk her.<\/p>\n The 43-page investigation found Fultz had posed for pictures as Adolf Hitler, freely used racial slurs in texts, masturbated on camera in his police vehicle, took pictures of his ex-girlfriend with his service weapon in her mouth during sex, repeatedly broke the law to generate clout online for his motorcycle themed Instagram and TikTok accounts, and used Flock to stalk his ex-girlfriend.<\/p>\n One of the sheriff\u2019s office\u2019s key findings was that Fultz used Flock to spy on his ex and bragged about it to her.\u00a0<\/strong>When questioned about using Flock, Fultz told investigators that he remembered the conversation with his ex but \u201cdenied checking her vehicle registration to spy on her or out of revenge.\u201d The investigators audited the Flock logs and found that Fultz had, indeed, tracked her movements.<\/p>\n When someone runs a search using Flock, the system requires users to enter a reason. Fultz flagged his search for his ex as a general investigation, and simply entered \u201cinvestigation\u201d as the reason.\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n I would like to think that the typical department has tougher standards in place before officers can access Flock searches, but alas. <\/p>\n Meanwhile, the DeSantis administration literally took millions of dollars intended for sick poor people and appropriated it for political purposes:<\/a><\/p>\n Gov. Ron DeSantis\u2019s administration \u201cmisappropriated\u201d $10 million in taxpayer money by diverting it to a charity tied to his wife, according to a leaked Florida grand jury report that took a sharply critical view of the dealings.<\/p>\n The report also said grand jurors found insufficient evidence to levy charges. But it intensified a controversy over the\u00a0investigation<\/a>\u00a0into the fund-raising arm of Hope Florida, the charity that the first lady, Casey DeSantis, started in 2021. The charity\u2019s goal is to keep families off public assistance by connecting them with churches and aid groups.<\/p>\n In 2024, the charity\u2019s fund-raising arm, the Hope Florida Foundation, received $10 million from a state Medicaid settlement. It was quickly redirected to political committees backing a campaign led by the governor against a ballot measure that would have legalized marijuana.<\/p>\n The transactions amounted to misuse of public funds as \u201cpart of a sophisticated scheme to fund political activities,\u201d the grand jury found in its report, which\u00a0was published online by CBS News Miami<\/a>\u00a0on Wednesday.
