Yes again, I have been to the vets this week – it seems like 27 weeks on on the run (though I never do – run, that is) but its probably more like 2 or 3 times.

For a change, the vet was very pleased – Wirh me, and with the way Jacky has been deep cleaning my ears with antibacterial lotion.

Unfortunately, I still have to go again for a further check in a few weeks.

Apart from that, the week has been rather mundane.

I’ve been out for all my morning park walks, even though it has got colder day by day. Poor John has to put on so many layers, he looks like ‘The Michelin Man’. Still, if it stops him freezing to death, I suppose it’s worth it.

Of course, I put on nothing. I have to rely on my normal fur coat. I am glad they didn’t trim it before the winter. Perhaps they knew this cold spell was coming. I suspect John did because Jacky recently called him a ‘know-all’ – a term of endearment I haven’t been aware of before.

John has finally finished work completely- though his rather muted celebrations on Dec 31st (his official last day) were largely overshadowed by the world going mad to recognise the end of 2025 and usher in the new year of 2026.

I think I am bound by tradition to wish you all a Happy New Year = though what use are a dog’s wishes against the might of people like Trump and Putin (Starmer anyone?) and their ability to **** up the world. Sorry about the expletive but it is something I only do when I am seething with rage – or occasionally for comedic effect.

Let’s see how 2026 turns out. And how happy you all are at the end of it. My real message is that if you’re not happy and having fun, change something!
