Everyone was talking about it, either how the game is great, or expressing <a href=\"https:\/\/n4g.com\/articles\/playstation-haters-gonna-hate-turn-based-combat-haters-decided-to-review-bomb-clair-obscur-expedition-33-despite-the-record-breaking-scores\/\">displeasure<\/a> with turn-based games. This game is a perfect blend of everything the players love: the characters are all pretty realistic and relatable, combat is engaging enough, the <a href=\"https:\/\/n4g.com\/articles\/clair-obscur-expedition-33-it-is-that-good-the-soundtrack-just-reached-a-perfect-number-of-streams\/\">soundtrack<\/a> adds so much to the game, and the story is out of this world (people are still debating on what is the \u201cright\u201d ending). It was the best contender for the GOTY 2025 award, even managing to surpass some pretty serious titles, like Split Fiction or Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And now, a few months later, we got a couple of pretty amazing new games, all extremely highly rated on Metacritic. However, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is still the best-rated game of 2025 on Metacritic.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Is Still the Best-Rated Game of 2025 on Metacritic and #1 Contender for Game of the Year 2025 Award<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Clair Obscur was released on April 27. After it, on June 26, we got the highly anticipated Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which was widely praised as well. It managed to surpass Clair Obscur\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/n4g.com\/articles\/playstation-death-stranding-2-is-now-the-highest-rated-game-on-playstation-store\/\">rating on the PlayStation Store<\/a> (and even started a <a href=\"https:\/\/n4g.com\/articles\/playstation-review-ping-pong-france-serves-kojimas-death-stranding-2-a-6-10-in-return-for-a-7-on-clair-obscur-from-japan\/\">review ping-pong<\/a>). And quite recently, another challenger has entered the arena, in the form of Donkey Kong Bonanza, which was just released on July 17. However, as far as Metacritic is concerned, they are both great, but still not that great to beat Expedition 33. As it stands, Clair Obscur is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metacritic.com\/pictures\/best-videogames-of-2025-at-midyear\/\">highest-rated game of 2025<\/a>, followed by Blue Prince and Split Fiction.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Clair Obscur: Expedition 33<\/strong> \u2013 93 Metascore<\/li>\n<li><strong>Blue Prince<\/strong> \u2013 92 Metascore<\/li>\n<li><strong>Split Fiction<\/strong> \u2013 91 Metascore<\/li>\n<li><strong>Donkey Kong Bonanza<\/strong> \u2013 90 Metascore<\/li>\n<li><strong>Death Stranding 2: On the Beach<\/strong> \u2013 89 Metascore<\/li>\n<li><strong>Monster Hunter: Wilds<\/strong> \u2013 88 Metascore<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kingdom Come: Deliverance II<\/strong> \u2013 88 Metascore<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s The Game Awards is scheduled for December 11 and will be held in LA\u2019s Peacock Theater once more. There is still plenty of time until December, and some cool titles are on the way. <a href=\"https:\/\/n4g.com\/articles\/playstation-mafia-the-old-country-official-gameplay-trailer-just-dropped\/\">Mafia: The Old Country<\/a> will surely be a strong contender, and <a href=\"https:\/\/n4g.com\/articles\/vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-2-release-window-revealed-by-the-devs\/\">VTM: Bloodlines 2<\/a> could be a surprise hit. Unfortunately, it looks like Silksong will not get released on time, as the expected release date is somewhere in December, before the holidays. But, a <a href=\"https:\/\/n4g.com\/articles\/playstation-silksong-activity-spikes-on-steamdb-fans-brace-for-a-possible-shadow-drop\/\">surprise release<\/a> is not out of the question.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In any case, we\u2019d love to congratulate Sandfall once more and to thank them for an amazing game that will surely stand the test of time and serve as an inspiration for future games.
