They genuinely want to spend more time with God through Scripture. What\u2019s missing is confidence. And when that gap between wanting to engage and feeling equipped goes unaddressed, it quietly turns into guilt: I really should read my Bible more. Maybe I\u2019m just not spiritual enough, smart enough, disciplined enough.<\/em><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the truth worth sitting with\u2014that guilt isn\u2019t proof of a spiritual failure. It\u2019s proof you\u2019re not alone. Even lifelong followers of Jesus report feeling exactly this way.<\/p>\n

The Bible Is a Library, Not a Single Book<\/strong><\/h2>\n

That\u2019s actually good news. It means the Bible was never meant to be absorbed all at once or mastered like a textbook. It\u2019s a library you get to walk through slowly, one shelf at a time.<\/p>\n

You Don\u2019t Need a Theology Degree<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Here\u2019s something that gets lost in translation for a lot of us: a few practical tools go a long way. Knowing a little about a passage\u2019s context\u2014who wrote it, who it was written to, what was happening at the time\u2014can unlock meaning that otherwise stays hidden. But that kind of understanding builds over time. It\u2019s not a prerequisite for starting.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And even when your grasp of the history or language is limited, God\u2019s Spirit isn\u2019t waiting on your expertise. The Spirit works in you and through Scripture regardless of how much background knowledge you bring to the page. <\/strong>Understanding deepens the experience. It doesn\u2019t gatekeep it.<\/p>\n

Every Verse Is Part of a Bigger Story<\/strong><\/h2>\n

One helpful shift: remember that no verse stands entirely alone.<\/strong> Every verse belongs to a passage. Every passage belongs to a larger story or section. Every story contributes to a bigger theme, and every book plays its part in the overarching story God is telling. When a passage feels confusing or disconnected, it often helps to zoom out and ask where it fits in that larger arc, rather than trying to extract a complete meaning from a single isolated line.<\/p>\n

You\u2019re not required to have it all figured out before you begin. You\u2019re just invited to keep showing up to the text, trusting that clarity builds over time, and that God meets you in the process, not just at the finish line.<\/p>\n
