\u2026and suddenly we\u2019ve entered the season of \u201clasts.\u201d The last choir concert, the last high school play, the last time Mom sneaks into her room to steal<\/del>\u00a0I mean, borrow<\/em> a cute pair of earrings\u2026<\/p>\n

How did she get here? How did I?<\/p>\n

Grace, more grace and processed food as necessary.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This is a theme that I\u2019d like to explore further, but for today\u2013because it\u2019s a busy Friday and I\u2019ve got another<\/em> concert to attend this evening\u2013I want to keep this meditation brief. The month of May can be off the CHARTS busy.\u00a0 Here\u2019s how *I* know when the pace of my life starts ramping up:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Stress Dreams!<\/strong> Suddenly I\u2019m craving more sleep than a narcoleptic, and if THAT weren\u2019t bad enough, my dreams are angsty and full of events for which I\u2019m not prepared. Either it\u2019s a flight that takes off within an hour and I haven\u2019t even started packing, or (in last night\u2019s case) a costume party where everyone\u2019s dressed up but me<\/em>.\u00a0 Stress dreams! I hate \u2019em! Do you have them?<\/li>\n
  2. Sneaky Snacky Overeating!\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0As shown in the only partly satirical photo above, I\u2019ve started leaning on junk food to get me through. I\u2019m like that board game<\/strong><\/a> my six-year-old loves to play only I\u2019M the squirrel and the prize is FOOD. Except\u2026It\u2019s never win-win, that gas station bag of Combos, because I feel sluggish & dull & just want to sleep, which leads to\u2026<\/li>\n
  3. Stress Dreams!<\/strong> (a vicious cycle)<\/li>\n
  4. Distracted Driving!\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0And I\u2019m the worst, so if you see me coming get out of the way.<\/li>\n
  5. And finally, the biggest way that I know I\u2019m stressing, is that those tears come unbidden all<\/em> the time!\u00a0<\/strong>For someone who struggles with depression and with May (appropriately?) being Mental Health Month, this is an area of my life that needs surveillance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Perhaps you can relate to some or all of the above, and since I promised advice in this blog post\u2019s title, I will provide the vital second half to the \u201cI can do all things\u201d boast. It\u2019s not a boast with its second half, you see, and it\u2019s one hundred percent true (the way I see it): I can do all things\u2026THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME. (See Paul\u2019s Letter to the Philippians: Chapter 4, verse 13.)<\/p>\n

    That is the ONLY way I could survive the chaos and I propose that you give it (er, Him<\/em>), a try. When I fall, He picks me up, be it in the form of a friend who offer prayers and gives hugs; daily Mass when I really needed it; a YouTube video by Bishop Barron<\/strong><\/a> or\u00a0Father Mike Schmitz<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    And coffee, yes, in absurd amounts, but whether that adds to the stress or alleviates it?<\/p>\n

    I\u2019ll think about that<\/em> tomorrow.<\/p>\n
