However, that support is reputational and structural, not a lien on tokens sitting in escrow.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"senior-unsecured-notes-and-where-xrp-escrow-actually-fits\">Senior Unsecured Notes and Where XRP Escrow Actually Fits<\/h2>\n<p>Senior unsecured notes are a specific type of corporate debt. \u201cSenior\u201d means noteholders get repaid before subordinated creditors if the issuer defaults; \u201cunsecured\u201d means there\u2019s no specific collateral pledged against the debt. Bondholders are relying on the issuer\u2019s general ability to pay, not a claim on a named asset.<\/p>\n<p>This is what makes the KBRA BBB rating assigned to Ripple Prime CIV US BD HoldCo LLC, the intermediate holding company sitting above the operating subsidiary Hidden Road Partners CIV US LLC, worth reading closely.
