Uriel Oputa has a message for everyone wondering why women over 30 are not rushing to get married: have you seen the dating pool lately?<\/p>\n

The former Big Brother Naija housemate has pushed back against the pressure often placed on women to settle down once they reach a certain age, arguing that marriage should not come at the cost of a woman\u2019s peace, happiness or mental wellbeing.<\/p>\n

Uriel shared her thoughts in a strongly worded social media post titled \u201cDating in 2026,\u201d where she questioned the reality of modern dating and the expectations placed on single women.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo everyone screaming at women over 30 to \u2018go and get married!\u2019 \u2014 have you actually seen the dating pool?!\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

According to Uriel, the problem is not that women are unwilling to find partners. She believes the modern dating scene<\/a> itself has become increasingly complicated, with people struggling to communicate honestly about what they actually want.<\/p>\n

\u201cNobody communicates, nobody is honest about intentions, and everybody wants something without saying what it is,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

That uncertainty, she suggested, is one reason she has no interest in entering a relationship<\/a> to satisfy societal expectations.<\/p>\n

Uriel made it clear that she would rather remain single than accept a relationship that threatens her peace.<\/p>\n

\u201cMe? I know my worth. I\u2019m not taking on somebody\u2019s son just to develop high blood pressure,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

She even brought her own blood pressure reading into the conversation, joking that her current 111\/80 is peaceful and she intends to keep it that way.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese days marriage is not worth losing my peace over,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Her final assessment of modern dating was even more blunt:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe dating pool needs Jesus, chlorine, and a complete water change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Uriel\u2019s comments tap into a wider conversation around marriage pressure in Nigeria, where unmarried women, particularly those in their 30s and beyond, are frequently questioned about when they intend to settle down.<\/p>\n

Age is often treated as a deadline, with women expected to prioritize marriage even when they are not in a healthy or suitable relationship. Uriel\u2019s argument challenges that mentality, suggesting that being married should not automatically be considered a greater achievement than being single and at peace.<\/p>\n

The reality star has also built a public image around being outspoken about relationships, dating, lifestyle and personal wellbeing. Rather than presenting marriage as the ultimate destination, she is emphasizing the importance of choosing the right partner \u2014 or choosing no partner at all if the alternative is constant stress.<\/p>\n

For Uriel, turning 30 is clearly not a deadline.<\/p>\n

If the available options threaten her peace, she would rather keep her blood pressure at 111\/80 and stay single.<\/p>\n
