Now a registered trademark, \u2018La Fi\u00e7elle\u2019 is named after the section of knotted string that was dipped into your bottle by a waiter in the <em>bouchons<\/em> of Lyon to determine how much you should be charged for that evening&#8217;s consumption.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yapp.co.uk\/saint-pourcain-la-ficelle-rouge-2025\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yapp.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/la-ficelle-39th-vintage.jpg\" alt=\"Saint-Pour\u00e7ain: 'La Ficelle' Rouge 2025 - 39th vintage\" width=\"650\" height=\"395\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14052\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now in its 39th year, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yapp.co.uk\/saint-pourcain-la-ficelle-rouge-2025\">2025 vintage<\/a> sees the illustrator Giemsi (Mon Quotidien, L\u2019Actu, Fluide Glacial) satirise the relationship between an individual and their bottle whilst tucked up in bed together. The bottle comments on their \u2018years together&#8230;\u2019 with the sardonic reply \u2018&#8230;with never a headache\u2019. The roll call of illustrators that they have worked with is impressive, recent partners are listed below.<\/p>\n<p>2024: Gab (France Agricole, Sin\u00e9 Hebdo, Sinum) reimagined \u2018la fi\u00e7elle\u2019 as a fishing line used to catch bottles from a boat named <em>L\u2019Assoif\u00e9<\/em> (\u2018The Thirsty Schooner\u2019).<br \/>2023: Xavier Lacombe &#8211; an Ard\u00e8che native now based in Lyon &#8211; who has illustrated for such fabled French bande-dessin\u00e9e titles as Marianne, Sin\u00e9 Mensuel, Urtikan and Mazette.<br \/>2022: Christophe Bertin (aka \u2018Berth\u2019), who is based in Besan\u00e7on in eastern France\u2019s Franche-Comt\u00e9 region and whose work has appeared in Mon Quotidien, L\u2019Est Republicain, Spirou and Reporterre.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yapp.co.uk\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/giemsi-artist-saint-pourcain.jpg\" alt=\"Giemsi - artist\" width=\"600\" height=\"699\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14054\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The wine itself is a versatile, juicy blend of Gamay &amp; Pinot Noir grown on the clay-limestone and granite hillsides of the Auvergne. The two grapes are vinified separately with a traditional maceration (10 days for Gamay and 12 days for Pinot Noir) with daily punch-downs and pump-overs to optimize extraction and the finesse of the aromas.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy as an <em>aperitif<\/em> with <em>tapas<\/em>, a <em>charcuterie<\/em> board or simple roast chicken.
