It’s common sense — after all, they are at the age where they start becoming more interested in playing with things.

But what if you want to get them something different? In this round-up, we’ll take a look at some of the best non toy gifts for a 1 year old, plus the best practical gifts, to help give you some ideas. But first, let’s discuss why a non-toy gift might be a good idea…

One of the best ways to encourage a love of reading in children is to start them off early with books that are specifically designed for them. The Taggies Dazzle Dots book is a great option, and it’s sure to become one of their favorites.

This book is filled with colorful images of things like animals, shapes, and numbers. The crinkle paper and squeaker inside add to the sensory fun. Plus, it’s machine washable in case of any accidents.

Early walker shoes are one of the best practical gifts for a new toddler. They are designed to provide support and stability for those first few steps, helping the child to feel more confident as they start exploring the world around them.

We like these non-slip shoes from Delebao. They’re made from a soft and breathable fabric, and they have a skid-resistant sole that provides traction on any surface. These shoes are also said to promote good balance and foot development, which is an added bonus.

Portable boosters provide a safe and comfortable seating option for toddlers when they’re away from home, and they can be used at restaurants, parks, and even on vacation. A booster seat such as Summer Pop ‘n Sit Portable Booster can be a great option. It’s made from durable materials and has a compact fold that makes it easy to transport and store.

A set of age-appropriate dishes can be useful for years to come. Suction bowls and plates are the perfect non toy gifts for a 1 year old, as they help to prevent messes and spills.

We like this set of suction bowls and plates from Munchkin. It includes three different-sized bowls and plates, each with a quick-release tab to make it easy for parents to remove the bowls and plates. Plus, they’re BPA free which is always a bonus.

One-year-olds are at the age where they start to show an interest in music, and they may even start to dance along when they hear a tune.

For a CD, we recommend the Baby Einstein: Lullaby Classics album. It features classical music specifically designed to soothe and relax babies. If you’re looking for an instrument, you can never go wrong with the durable Hohner Kids Glockenspiel Xylophone.

Babies love soft and snuggly blankets, and they’re sure to get a lot of use out of one. A blanket can be used for naps, cuddling, and even as a decor piece in the nursery.

We like this soft and snuggly blanket from Burt’s Bees Baby. It’s made from organic materials and it’s reversible, with a wide variety of colors and patterns to choose from. It has a fill for extra warmth, and it’s machine washable for easy care.

One-year-olds grow quickly, so clothes that are a size or two larger can be one of the best practical gifts — and an appreciated one too! It’s always a good idea to have larger clothes on hand, as you never know when the little one is going to have a growth spurt.

While toys can be fun for 1-year-olds, they may not be as useful as some of the other gift ideas on this list. This is not to say that toys should be avoided altogether, but rather that you should consider the needs and interests of the child before choosing a toy as a gift.

Parents will appreciate a monetary gift that can be used to purchase items for their 1-year-old. This is a great option if you’re not sure what the parents need or if you’d simply like to give them the freedom to choose.

There are a few things to avoid when shopping for gifts for 1-year-olds. First, avoid anything that is small enough to fit in their mouth or contains small parts — both could pose a choking hazard.

Second, avoid any items with sharp edges.

Finally, check the labels on any items to ensure they’re made from safe materials and meet all safety standards.

Why Get Non Toy Gifts for 1 Year Old?
