Waiting.<\/p>\n

Not my forte.<\/p>\n

Not my normal.<\/p>\n

Not my weakness.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s torture.<\/p>\n

Yet, I\u2019ve had years and years of experience with being married to a farmer. \u201cI\u2019ll be there in 10 minutes\u201d translates to I\u2019ll see ya when I see ya. Which results in anywhere from an hour to just before bed.<\/p>\n

So, I\u2019ve practiced and practiced and I have failed and failed to do so patiently.<\/p>\n

I can wait fretfully.<\/p>\n

I can wait fumingly.<\/p>\n

I can wait while pacing, finishing another load of laundry, taking care of the dishes in the dishwasher, counting the ceiling tiles in the drs office. <\/p>\n

Patiently isn\u2019t on my list.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s when I\u2019m stuck waiting for something from God that I truly realize this. <\/p>\n

My personality is \u201ccome on, let\u2019s get going, no one is going to do it for you, get up\u201d. When I heard \u201cif it is to be it\u2019s up to me\u201d I knew it was written about me!<\/p>\n

Oh, my how foolish.<\/p>\n

Nothing, nothing is ever \u201cbe\u201d just because of me.<\/p>\n

Waiting of farmer and getting ticked off is reasonable. It\u2019s usually because of poor time management on his part.<\/p>\n

Waiting on God should be part of worship. <\/p>\n

I have to remind myself this. Who am I to be upset when the Master of the Universe, the Creator of all takes his time in \u201cdelivering\u201d my requests?<\/p>\n

The empty space of waiting is uncomfortable. Sometimes I want to knock on heaven\u2019s door and ask \u201cGod, are you still there? Did you hear me when I asked? Did you hear me the first time, the 8th time, the 29th time? Are you too busy with someone else?\u201d<\/p>\n

While I know all those questions are absurd I still feel that way when I am desperate for hearing his spirit whisper to me.<\/p>\n

What I know is #1 he hears. He always hears. #2 when I am waiting I am listening harder.<\/p>\n

Maybe that\u2019s part of the reason for the wait. In order to listen harder you have to lean in to hear. Perhaps I\u2019ve been too busy swinging the bat by myself that I moved away from home plate.<\/p>\n

Right now, I\u2019m in that quiet, lonely sometimes difficult space. And, I\u2019m leaning. I\u2019m leaning so hard I\u2019m almost horizontal on the floor.<\/p>\n

The problem with waiting is you often don\u2019t know when the waiting stops and your result of the wait begins.<\/p>\n

For now, I wait.
For now, I\u2019m leaning.
For now, I\u2019m trying to be patient.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not writing for sympathy. Like I\u2019ve said before \u2013 I have words and I need to get them out. I do pray that this might help someone else wait with a touch more ease.
