But don\u2019t worry there s a clean, open source solution that fixes everything, its called \u2018<strong>Magic Mouse HID driver for Linux\u2019<\/strong> by Ricardo Rodrigues. This lightweight driver re-enables full Apple-style functionality for both the Magic Mouse and the Magic Trackpad under Ubuntu all in under ten minutes.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">The Problem: Apple Magic Mouse on Ubuntu<\/h4>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">When you connect your Magic Mouse or Trackpad to Ubuntu, it\u2019s recognized as a generic <strong>HID (Human Interface Device)<\/strong>. The Linux kernel includes a basic driver (<code>hid_magicmouse<\/code>), but it lacks the full Apple-specific support you\u2019re used to, as you\u2019ll know from using a Windows mouse with macOS there is something different about these magic mice and that\u2019s why they don\u2019t work like they should. Developer <strong>Ricardo E. P. Rodrigues<\/strong> created a modern replacement for the kernel\u2019s built-in driver. His project, hosted on GitHub as <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/RicardoEPRodrigues\/Linux-Magic-Trackpad-2-Driver\" target=\"_new\"><strong>Linux-Magic-Trackpad-2-Driver<\/strong><\/a>, adds proper gesture handling, right-click recognition, and full multitouch support for:<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">The driver is distributed as a DKMS module (Dynamic Kernel Module Support), which means it automatically rebuilds itself whenever Ubuntu updates your kernel no need to reinstall it every time you upgrade.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">How to Install the Magic Mouse \/ Trackpad Driver on Ubuntu<\/h4>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">The process is simple and safe.
