I recently read an article by my friend Kimberly Taylor of Taking Back Your Temple Ministry.\u00a0 It was a new thought for me.\u00a0 <\/strong>It caused me to think!\u00a0<\/em><\/h3>\nThis is where most of us are; we need to have a new thought, the old way is not working!<\/em><\/h3>\nKimberly shared Proverbs 23:1-3\u00a0 \u201cWhen you sit down to eat with a ruler, consider carefully what is before you; and put a knife to your throat if you are a man given to appetite.\u00a0 Do not desire his delicacies, for they are deceptive food.\u201d\u00a0 The question she shared, \u201cwhat is the difference between hunger and appetite?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\nI had read this scripture many times, but I had never had insight from it, until reading this article.\u00a0 Are you a person given to appetite?\u00a0<\/em> This is any appetite; food, alcohol, drugs, porn, whatever you have no control of in your life.\u00a0 You have a desire to change, but don\u2019t have the power to change.<\/strong><\/p>\nAppetite is different than being hungry. ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.joycetilney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/taste-buds-slide.png?resize=300%2C165&ssl=1\")
<\/em> <\/strong><\/h3>\nHunger is a God given desire for food that your body needs to nourish it and give it strength to do what God created it for.\u00a0 According to Scripture, your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 It carries a \u201ctreasure.\u201d\u00a0 (1 Corinthians 6:19,\u00a0 2 Corinthians 4;7).<\/strong><\/p>\nAppetite is a strong desire or liking for something, a craving, longing, hunger, thirst, lust, love, zest; a\u00a0desire\u00a0to\u00a0satisfy\u00a0any\u00a0bodily\u00a0need\u00a0or\u00a0craving.\u00a0 If not controlled it leads to addiction!<\/strong><\/p>\nAs a child of God, you are created to crave God\u2019s Word!\u00a0 It is life to those who find it! (Proverbs 4:20-22).\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Job 23:12 tells us, \u201cI have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the\u00a0 words\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0of His mouth more than my necessary food.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\nI have had a weight challenge most of my life.\u00a0 Up and down, losing weight and then gaining it back with a few more extra pounds.\u00a0 The world is full of information about food, diet, exercise! We are intelligent people, why is this such a \u201cbig\u201d problem in our society?\u00a0<\/strong> Food is not the problem!\u00a0 The world basis everything on food; what we eat and when.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\nThe problem is \u201cwhy\u201d we eat!<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\nWhen your appetite is out-of-control you are eating when your body is not physically hungry.\u00a0 You eat out of boredom, because it looks good and you become addicted!\u00a0 This is where satan wants you, this has been his plan for you all along.\u00a0 When you are addicted you no longer have control of your appetite.\u00a0 It controls you.\u00a0 Just like a cigarette!\u00a0 I remember how tobacco had a control on my life. I had to have a cigarette before I did anything and especially after I finished dinner!<\/strong><\/p>\nFood is not the problem, because this is a spiritual issue! \u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\nGod is a spirit, the devil is a spirit and you are a spirit.\u00a0 The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy and since food worked so well in the Garden, why change? (John 10:10).<\/strong><\/p>\nSatan gained legal access to the world when Eve took a bite!\u00a0 When she took that bite, she revealed what was in her heart!\u00a0 Eve had been deceived and when she believed a lie, she empowered the liar.<\/strong><\/p>\nAn out-of-control appetite is a spiritual issue.\u00a0 The world gives us information about a substance and why it is bad for us, but only the Word of God can bring transformation in our life that can break any addiction that has control of our appetite.<\/strong><\/p>\nWhat is your appetite costing you? Time, money, disappointment and discouragement?\u00a0 Are you reaping the benefit of depression because you can\u2019t control your appetite?\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\nThe only power that can break addictions is the power of the Holy Spirit! Until your spiritual eyes are open to the truth, you will go around that mountain again and again!<\/strong><\/p>\nOne day, I saw the words, \u201cThe Devil wants you fat!\u201d\u00a0 I was crushed, I hated the devil!\u00a0 ![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.joycetilney.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/devil-slide.png?resize=300%2C165&ssl=1\")
\u00a0It was a moment that brought repentance and an awareness that I was responsible\u00a0 and accountable for the care of my body!\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/strong>I repented and asked my Helper, the Holy Spirit for His help.<\/strong><\/p>\nThat was all that was needed. My repentance, recognizing that I could not break this addiction on my own and depending on the Lord for His help in my deliverance.\u00a0 You cannot be healed until you are willing to admit you have a problem!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\nGod spoke to me, \u201cbreak the habit!\u201d\u00a0 I knew exactly what He meant. My food habit.\u00a0 Eating without thinking, reacting unconsciously when a thought of food came to my mind!<\/strong><\/p>\nThat is the battlefield; I had to purposely cast down imaginations and every thought against the Word of God! (2 Cor. 10:4-5)<\/strong><\/p>\nGod gave me a battle plan that worked from the inside out! Gluttony is a sin and the only cure for sin is repentance.\u00a0 You are a spirit and gluttony is a spiritual problem.\u00a0\u00a0 You can be skinny and be a glutton!<\/strong><\/p>\nYou can read my testimony in my book, Why Diets Don\u2019t Work- Food is not the Problem.\u00a0 Taste and see that the Lord is good.\u00a0 Nothing taste as good as obedience!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kimberly shared Proverbs 23:1-3\u00a0 \u201cWhen you sit down to eat with a ruler, consider carefully what is before you; and put a knife to your throat if you are a man given to appetite.\u00a0 Do not desire his delicacies, for they are deceptive food.\u201d\u00a0 The question she shared, \u201cwhat is the difference between hunger and appetite?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n I had read this scripture many times, but I had never had insight from it, until reading this article.\u00a0 Are you a person given to appetite?\u00a0<\/em> This is any appetite; food, alcohol, drugs, porn, whatever you have no control of in your life.\u00a0 You have a desire to change, but don\u2019t have the power to change.<\/strong><\/p>\n Hunger is a God given desire for food that your body needs to nourish it and give it strength to do what God created it for.\u00a0 According to Scripture, your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.\u00a0 It carries a \u201ctreasure.\u201d\u00a0 (1 Corinthians 6:19,\u00a0 2 Corinthians 4;7).<\/strong><\/p>\n Appetite is a strong desire or liking for something, a craving, longing, hunger, thirst, lust, love, zest; a\u00a0desire\u00a0to\u00a0satisfy\u00a0any\u00a0bodily\u00a0need\u00a0or\u00a0craving.\u00a0 If not controlled it leads to addiction!<\/strong><\/p>\n As a child of God, you are created to crave God\u2019s Word!\u00a0 It is life to those who find it! (Proverbs 4:20-22).\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Job 23:12 tells us, \u201cI have not departed from the commandment of His lips; I have treasured the\u00a0 words\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0of His mouth more than my necessary food.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n I have had a weight challenge most of my life.\u00a0 Up and down, losing weight and then gaining it back with a few more extra pounds.\u00a0 The world is full of information about food, diet, exercise! We are intelligent people, why is this such a \u201cbig\u201d problem in our society?\u00a0<\/strong> Food is not the problem!\u00a0 The world basis everything on food; what we eat and when.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n When your appetite is out-of-control you are eating when your body is not physically hungry.\u00a0 You eat out of boredom, because it looks good and you become addicted!\u00a0 This is where satan wants you, this has been his plan for you all along.\u00a0 When you are addicted you no longer have control of your appetite.\u00a0 It controls you.\u00a0 Just like a cigarette!\u00a0 I remember how tobacco had a control on my life. I had to have a cigarette before I did anything and especially after I finished dinner!<\/strong><\/p>\n God is a spirit, the devil is a spirit and you are a spirit.\u00a0 The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy and since food worked so well in the Garden, why change? (John 10:10).<\/strong><\/p>\n Satan gained legal access to the world when Eve took a bite!\u00a0 When she took that bite, she revealed what was in her heart!\u00a0 Eve had been deceived and when she believed a lie, she empowered the liar.<\/strong><\/p>\n An out-of-control appetite is a spiritual issue.\u00a0 The world gives us information about a substance and why it is bad for us, but only the Word of God can bring transformation in our life that can break any addiction that has control of our appetite.<\/strong><\/p>\n What is your appetite costing you? Time, money, disappointment and discouragement?\u00a0 Are you reaping the benefit of depression because you can\u2019t control your appetite?\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n The only power that can break addictions is the power of the Holy Spirit! Until your spiritual eyes are open to the truth, you will go around that mountain again and again!<\/strong><\/p>\n One day, I saw the words, \u201cThe Devil wants you fat!\u201d\u00a0 I was crushed, I hated the devil!\u00a0 That was all that was needed. My repentance, recognizing that I could not break this addiction on my own and depending on the Lord for His help in my deliverance.\u00a0 You cannot be healed until you are willing to admit you have a problem!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n God spoke to me, \u201cbreak the habit!\u201d\u00a0 I knew exactly what He meant. My food habit.\u00a0 Eating without thinking, reacting unconsciously when a thought of food came to my mind!<\/strong><\/p>\n That is the battlefield; I had to purposely cast down imaginations and every thought against the Word of God! (2 Cor. 10:4-5)<\/strong><\/p>\n God gave me a battle plan that worked from the inside out!
