This week I decided to <\/span>follow up<\/span> <\/span>sharing <\/span>a <\/span>Lugana<\/span> wine <\/span>from renowned Cantina Zeni that <\/span>I <\/span>tasted <\/span>while preparing for my newsletter<\/span> Release<\/span>.<\/span> \u00a0<\/span>The Zeni estate was founded over 150 years ago back in 1870 by Bartolomeo Zeni Whom was a traveling wine merchant at the time<\/span>. \u00a0<\/span>Gaetano \u201c<\/span>Nino\u201d Zeni<\/span> <\/span>H<\/span>elped to modernize<\/span> the business and <\/span>established<\/span> the wineries we know today<\/span>. \u00a0<\/span>Today, the winery is led by the 5th generation<\/span>, Nino\u2019s children, Elena, <\/span>Federico<\/span> and Fausto<\/span>. \u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Cantina Zeni\u2019s winery can be found in two locations, the main estate i<\/span>s in <\/span>Bardolino <\/span>on the<\/span>\u00a0eastern shores of Lake <\/span>Garda<\/span> and <\/span>the other <\/span>is in<\/span> the Valpolicella wine region<\/span>.<\/span> \u00a0<\/span>They occupy over <\/span>60 acres<\/span>
\n of vineyards with their estate grapes, but they also contract with
\nrespected growers to help supplement some of their production<\/span>. \u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

I tasted the 2024 <\/b><\/span>Zeni Vigne<\/span> Alte <\/span>Lugana<\/span><\/b> DOC<\/b> wine that is labeled as <\/span>Trebbiano<\/span>. \u00a0<\/span>It makes it a little easier for the average consumer that may not know what a wine from <\/span>Lugana<\/span> is made from since most labels <\/span>don\u2019<\/span>t<\/span> bare the grape<\/span>.<\/span> \u00a0<\/span>This wine is made from 100% <\/span>Turbiana<\/span>, also known as <\/span>Trebbiano<\/span> di <\/span>Lugana<\/span>. \u00a0<\/span>The grapes are grown in white clay, limestone rich soils<\/span>. \u00a0<\/span>The grapes are hand harvested<\/span> <\/span>and then macerated on the <\/span>skins<\/span> and gently pressed<\/span>. \u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cVigne Alte\u201d stands for tall vines and <\/span>probably represents<\/span> how the vineyards in Bardolino are set on morainic hills.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span> <\/span>This wine was pale straw in color with aromas of stone fruit and tropical notes.<\/span> \u00a0It was nice lightly bodied with crisp acidity brightened with some lemon citrus, <\/span>pineapple<\/span> and a littl<\/span>e tang\/bitterness<\/span>. \u00a0<\/span>ABV 13%, SRP $20-22.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n you visit the Zeni wine estate in Bardolino you can also experience
\ntheir treasured wine museum, which was a vision of Nino\u2019s <\/span>established<\/span> in 1991.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
