It had two HH-60Ws ready in under 30 minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"circuit-breaker-fault-nearly-grounds-rescue-helicopter\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Circuit breaker fault\u00a0nearly grounds\u00a0rescue helicopter\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the two helicopters was at risk of being grounded by a recurring circuit breaker trip, with no spare\u00a0part\u00a0on hand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe diagnosed the master caution warning press-to-reset button as what was causing the circuit breaker to pop and provided aircrew with a workaround to keep the system operational and allow on-time takeoff,\u201d said\u00a0Staff Sergeant\u00a0Cody Adams, a 355 AMXS avionics craftsman, in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acc.af.mil\/News\/Article-Display\/Article\/4575006\/us-air-force-airmen-conduct-rapid-rescue-of-navy-helicopter-crew\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Air Combat Command\u00a0release<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The helicopters departed Nellis at 13:00\u00a0local time. The team then had the helicopters reposition to a closer landing area rather than move the\u00a0stranded\u00a0Navy crew on foot.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All five were extracted by\u00a015:50 and delivered to their squadron\u2019s ramp at China Lake. The HH-60Ws returned to Nellis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"a-purpose-built-rescue-variant-of-the-black-hawk\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">A purpose-built rescue variant of the Black Hawk<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The HH-60W is derived from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerotime.aero\/defense\/lockheed-martin\/uh-60-black-hawk\">Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk<\/a> but built for combat rescue from the outset. It sports an in-flight refueling probe and an enlarged main fuel tank providing 480 nautical miles of unrefueled range, a 600-pound hoist with 250 feet of cable, and a personnel locating system that works with survival radios.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The type also carries missile, radar, and laser warning receivers tied to an automatic chaff and flare dispenser, and two crew-served 7.62mm or .50 caliber machine guns.
