The new presentation expands the European availability of Samsung Bioepis\u2019 aflibercept biosimilar following the launch of its vial format in May 2026.<\/p>\n

Samsung Bioepis has launched the pre-filled syringe presentation of Opuviz, its aflibercept biosimilar referencing Eylea, in Europe.<\/p>\n

The company said the 40 mg\/mL solution in a pre-filled syringe became commercially available from 10 August 2026. The launch follows the introduction of the product\u2019s vial presentation in Europe in May.<\/p>\n

The single-dose, ready-to-use presentation is intended to provide ophthalmologists with an additional administration option for intravitreal treatment. Availability and prescribing information may vary between European countries.<\/p>\n

Opuviz contains aflibercept, a vascular endothelial growth factor inhibitor used to limit abnormal blood-vessel growth and leakage in the eye. The European Medicines Agency classifies Opuviz as a biosimilar medicine that is highly similar to its reference product, Eylea.<\/p>\n

The product is authorised in the European Union for treating adults with neovascular, or wet, age-related macular degeneration; visual impairment caused by macular oedema following retinal vein occlusion; diabetic macular oedema; and myopic choroidal neovascularisation.<\/p>\n

Opuviz was initially authorised in the European Union in November 2024. Current European product information covers both vial and pre-filled syringe presentations.<\/p>\n

Samsung Bioepis also markets its aflibercept biosimilar in South Korea under the brand name Afilivu.<\/p>\n
