Iran has invoked Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky to accuse Washington of basing its foreign policy toward Tehran and the wider Middle East on \u201clies,\u201d<\/em> as efforts to end the months-long conflict remain stalled.<\/p>\n

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei cited a passage from Dostoevsky\u2019s \u2018The Brothers Karamazov\u2019 in a post on X on Saturday, saying it \u201captly describes\u201d<\/em> the predicament in which the US system of governance and its regional foreign policy have found themselves.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to such a pass that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him,\u201d<\/em> Baghaei quoted the Russian writer as saying.<\/p>\n
