To protect the dignity and honour of women in India, Parliament enacted the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986<\/strong>, which came into force across the entire country on 2nd October 1987<\/strong>. This law imposes a strict ban on the obscene or demeaning portrayal of women in advertisements, films, magazines, books and other publications.<\/p>\n

In today’s digital age \u2014 where social media, OTT platforms and internet advertising are ubiquitous \u2014 this legislation has become more relevant than ever before.<\/p>\n
