This 20 km stage is good as a standalone day hike of moderate difficulty. Along the route, hikers can enjoy uninterrupted ocean views, walk across pristine beaches, and experience the raw beauty of the Atlantic coast in the Costa Vicentina Natural Park. There are some nice ocean views, but a lot of walking is done inland on gravel roads through Eucalyptus forest during this stage. You can stop here for a coffee or a beer, can get an Uber or taxi from here.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_highlights_of_the_trail\"\/>The highlights of the trail<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>View point Praia da Arrifana<\/strong> \u2013 Fantastic view of the towering black cliffs, Atlantic ocean and beach below. Nice menu, snacks and drinks<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>19.9 km\/12.3 mi<\/strong> \u2013 Trail ends at \u00a0Fisherman Statue at <strong>Clube Cultural e Recreativo Os Amigos da Carrapateira<\/strong>, the Microbar is a restaurant right at the end. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Route_Description_Arrifana_to_Carrapateira_route\"\/>Route Description Arrifana to Carrapateira route<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Starting point<\/strong> \u2013 Rota Vicentina sign board Praia da Arifana. Walk on the road to exit town.<\/li>\n<li><strong>500m \u2013 HI Arrifana Hostel<\/strong>, buffet breakfast with coffee starting at 7am for EUR12 (2026)<\/li>\n<li><strong>1.4 km <\/strong>\u2013 turn off on to a gravel road following red and yellow Historical Way markers.<\/li>\n<li><strong>3.5 km\/2.17 mi<\/strong> \u2013 View point over the ocean<\/li>\n<li><strong>3.7 km\/2.3<\/strong> mi \u2013 Steep descent \u2013 more than one trail going down hill, steep trails can be slippery and dangerous, take the main trail<\/li>\n<li><strong>4.2 km\/ 2.6 mi<\/strong> \u2013 long walk on gravel road<\/li>\n<li><strong>7.8 km\/4.8 mi<\/strong> \u2013 Crossing, check for signs<\/li>\n<li><strong>9.4 km\/5.8 mi<\/strong> \u2013 Quarenta &amp; Quatro restaurant, nice stop for coffee and breakfast, many hikers were sitting here when I had a coffee here.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>9.5 km\/5.9 mi<\/strong> \u2013 Fishermen\u00b4s Trail and Historic way split.<\/li>\n<li><strong>11 km\/6.8 mi <\/strong>\u2013 very little shade, can be very hot, make sure enough water, hat and sunscreen!<\/li>\n<li><strong>13.2 km\/8.3<\/strong> mi \u2013 Trail goes on to a sandy trail<\/li>\n<li><strong>13.6 km\/8.4 mi <\/strong>\u2013 about 150m climb to a beacon, steep descent.<\/li>\n<li><strong>13.7 km\/8.5 mi<\/strong> \u2013 trail continues on loose sand with some nice ocean views<\/li>\n<li><strong>16.7 km\/10.4 mi<\/strong> \u2013 the trail goes on to Bordeira Beach, Nice walk of more than 1 km on the beach. Take of your shoes, you might have to take them off anyway!
