However, others require a full day’s hike.

After a couple of trips through the park, these are our ten favourites.

The first seven are reachable by car. Mirador Cóndor

Mirador Cóndor was our favourite viewpoint in Torres del Paine National Park, despite the wild winds that greeted us when we got there.

The viewpoint sits atop a small rocky hillock, only 253m in altitude. Yet it has 360-degree views stretching over the Pehoé area and beyond.

The most remarkable view is to the north, where Los Cuernos (The Horns of Paine) and the top of Las Torres (The Towers) rise above the blue-green Lago Pehoé.

This is a magical place for sunrise, and (as the name suggests), that’s also a good time for spotting condors trying to catch the morning thermals.

View on the ascent to Mirador Cóndor

The mirador requires a short, steep hike. Instead of looking at them from a distance, you are surrounded by a circle of rocky peaks.

It is not as breathtaking or as sweeping as some of the other sights, but it feels more intimate, and the walk to get here is excellent, although extremely long.

Views from Mirador Británico

How to get there – Mirador Británico is usually on Day 2 or 3 of the W-Trek, depending on which way you go; however, it can also be reached on a long day hike.

The hike begins at Paine Grande Refugio. It is 8.3 miles to the viewpoint, during which you ascend 2,800 feet. It takes about 5 hours to reach the viewpoint and about 4 hours to return. Allowing for a half-hour break for lunch, that’s a 9- to 10-hour round trip.

To make it worse, Paine Grande Refugio is not on a road, so you need to get the Pehoé Catamaran, which runs between Pudeto Pier and the refugio.

The first boat from Pudeto Pier to the refugio is at 8 am. The last return boat is 6:40 pm. (Make sure you book in advance, as these time slots sell out). This means you have a maximum of 10 hours to complete the trek. So there is a bit of time pressure too.

Another option is to spend a night at Refugio Paine and combine the Mirador Británico walk with the Lago Grey Mirador (see below).

Paul on the hike to Mirador Británico

10. They are all very close together and can be visited in under 2 hours.

Start the hike up Mirador Condor 40 minutes before dawn, watch the sun light up the mountains and then descend to Hosteria Pehoe and Explora Salto Chico boardwalks.

Another popular sunrise option is Mirador Las Torres, where the morning light gives the towers a gentle pink glow. However, it means setting off in the dark (about 4 hours before dawn) and hiking up to the viewpoint with a head torch.

For sunset, we loved the Rio Serrano viewpoint. The river cuts through the fields, which are given a golden glow by the dying sun.

Dawn light on Los Cuernos from the bottom of the Mirador Condor Hike

More Argentina & Chile Guides

Anywhere We Roam is
reader-supported

When you buy through links on our site, we may earn a small affiliate commission at no extra cost to you.

Thanks for your support // Paul & Mark

buy us a coffee | instagram

Home » Americas » Chile » Best Viewpoints in Torres del Paine National Park: Our 10 Favourite Miradors Our 10 favourite viewpoints in Torres del Paine National Park, from roadside miradors to W-Trek lookouts, with directions and hike times for each.
