Think eggs, pastries, Asian rice dishes, fruit and more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A couple of things worth knowing: all the food is sourced sustainably, and there is <strong>no beef on the menu<\/strong> due to the high environmental impact of beef production. This isn\u2019t flagged as a big deal, and honestly you don\u2019t notice it given the variety of everything else on offer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The food quality is solid for a buffet of this type. The animals are calm, well-handled and used to the environment.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>During our breakfast we had:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Penguins<\/strong> (who made a brief appearance for photos and then headed back, they didn\u2019t stay as long as the others)<\/li>\n<li><strong>A lizard<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>A macaw<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>An owl<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Two orangutans<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most animals stay out for the majority of the breakfast session, in the restaurant terrace viewing area or in the climbing structures set up nearby. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The orangutans were particularly brilliant to watch. Other visitors have had sea lions, different reptiles and various birds depending on the session. You book the experience, not a specific animal list, so there\u2019s a small element of surprise involved but I think the orangutans are pretty standard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A note on the orangutans:<\/strong> They generally don\u2019t come very close to guests and the keepers manage the space well. That said, my sister-in-law visited years ago and one reached out and gave her a thump in the back. Since seats are pre-assigned and you can\u2019t choose your spot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also learnt on this day that Simon really likes owls. Imagine being with someone more than half your life and only just realising that\u2019s their favourite animal\u2026 oops! <\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Practical Tips<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Book in advance.<\/strong> Walk-ins are possible if spots are available but the experience is popular, particularly on weekends. Don\u2019t leave it to chance.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Arrive at 9am<\/strong> to settle in and get your food before the animals arrive at 9:15. If you arrive late you\u2019ll either miss early encounters or be juggling your plate and the animal show at the same time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Seats are pre-assigned.<\/strong> You don\u2019t get to choose where you sit, so go in knowing this rather than arriving with seating expectations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You need zoo admission.<\/strong> Factor this into your planning. If you\u2019re only coming for the breakfast, you will still need to purchase zoo entry tickets.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The experience runs Monday to Sunday<\/strong>, year-round. We didn\u2019t do this one but it\u2019s worth knowing about if you\u2019re planning your Mandai days and want to add something special to each one.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What We\u2019d Do Differently<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nothing, honestly.
