For hosted buyers, exhibitors, and independent planners, the trade show floor is the obvious anchor. The IMEX Frankfurt education programme is the part most people underuse.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tahira Endean, Head of Programme at IMEX, walked us through this year\u2019s programme on the webinar <em>How to Plan Your IMEX Education (200+ Sessions Without the FOMO)<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 how it\u2019s built, how to filter it, and how to fit it around a full meeting schedule. Here\u2019s the practical version.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"more-13325\"\/><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">This year\u2019s Talking Point: Design Matters<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every couple of years, IMEX adopts a unifying talking point. For 2026, it\u2019s Design Matters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The trigger: Frankfurt and the wider Frankfurt Rhine-Main region was named the World Design Council\u2019s Design City of the Year, with a brief built around designing cities for dialogue. That sits naturally next to a lot of what our industry is already wrestling with \u2014 how spaces shape conversation, how good design is good business, and how design isn\u2019t a finish, it\u2019s a starting point.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll see it in the rebranded education space, in the seating, and in how the theatres are laid out. You\u2019ll also see it in the programming itself.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The 11 IMEX education tracks (and how to pick yours)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every session sits inside a <a href=\"https:\/\/frankfurt.imexevents.com\/newfront\/education-tracks\">track<\/a>. Tracks are the fastest filter on the IMEX website \u2014 pick one or two and the 200+ sessions become a manageable shortlist.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The headline tracks include:<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><strong><strong>Advanced event logistics<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 contracting, budgeting, F&amp;B, the operational core<\/li>\n<li><strong><strong><strong>Designing for human needs<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 physical, mental, emotional; equity and inclusion<\/li>\n<li><strong><strong><strong>Design matters<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong> \u2014 Tuesday is the design-heavy day on one of the theatres<\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>Experiential event design<\/strong><\/strong> \u2014 Wednesday is the experience design day, with members of the World Experience Organization<\/li>\n<li><strong><strong><strong>Health and well-being<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>  \u2014 New methods and practices for reducing stress, embedding health habits, and protecting against burnout.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Impact<\/strong>  \u2014 Real-world examples of events delivering measurable positive change, plus the partnerships behind them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Leadership and culture<\/strong>  \u2014 What strong organisational culture actually is (and isn\u2019t), and why it\u2019s a competitive advantage when done well.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Marketing and engagement<\/strong>  \u2014 How to convert audience reach into event registrations, build community, and tell stories that actually land. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Regenerative design<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 circularity in event design, including speakers from the UK Design Council<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tech-enabled futures<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 AI and event technology<\/li>\n<li><strong>Trends and research<\/strong>  \u2014 The signals, the data, and the underlying shifts. Useful insights, sometimes uncomfortable ones, from speakers who work with the numbers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On top of tracks, there are tags. Tags drill in further \u2014 sustainability, new-to-the-industry, and so on. Use the tag filter once you\u2019ve picked your track and you\u2019ll usually land on three or four sessions worth your time.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Three ways to search the IMEX education programme<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On imex-frankfurt.com, under What\u2019s On, you can navigate by:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Day<\/strong> \u2014 useful if you already know which day your meetings are lighter.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Track<\/strong> \u2014 useful if you know what you want to learn.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Speaker<\/strong> \u2014 useful if there\u2019s someone you\u2019ve been wanting to hear in person.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sessions are listed in time order and visually colour-coded by track, so once you\u2019ve filtered, the schedule reads cleanly.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The maths: can you actually fit IMEX education in?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Short answer: yes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IMEX recommends hosted buyers aim for 6\u20138 meetings a day. That\u2019s roughly four hours of a seven-and-a-half-hour show day. The remainder, minus eating and getting between halls, leaves room for two or three sessions.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Most sessions are deliberately short:<\/h3>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Solo talks and small duos: 25 minutes<\/li>\n<li>Panel sessions: 45 minutes<\/li>\n<li>One longer AI and tech super session<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 25-minute format is intentional. Most buyer meetings run on 30-minute slots, so 25 keeps the timing sane and lets you move between halls without missing your next appointment.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Three highlights from this year\u2019s IMEX programme<\/h2>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dr. Ferron Gray on a mental health ISO standard<\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Ferron Gray of the Grae Matta Foundation is working towards a British ISO standard for mental health in events and academia. He needs industry input, and these sessions are working conversations. If you have a view on what mental health support in our industry should look like, this is where to bring it. One of his sessions runs as a Brave Talk (more on those below).<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pamella Onoriode on cyclical leadership<\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pamella explores leadership rhythms \u2014 specifically the cyclical rhythms of women in leadership, and the practical implications for anyone leading women. It\u2019s a session that takes biology seriously as a leadership variable. Pamella has two sessions in the programme \u2014 one runs as a Brave Talk.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The State of the Industry panel<\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moderated by Kai Hattendorf from jwc, with IMEX CEO Carina Bauer, Kevin Hinton from the US Travel Association, Huey Hong Ong from the Singapore Exhibition &amp; Convention Bureau and H.E Juma Al Kait, Advisor to Minister of Tourism and Economy, UAE. A diverse line-up that knows hard questions are coming and is ready for them.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Brave Talks: IMEX education behind closed doors<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few sessions each year are designated Brave Talks. They happen upstairs from Hall 9, past the Well-Being Lounge. No headsets, doors closed, intentionally smaller rooms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These exist because some conversations just don\u2019t work on a busy trade show floor. Past years have covered grief, suicide, and mental health. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>If a topic on the programme makes you hesitate before clicking, that\u2019s often the one to go to.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Experience Design Pitch Competition<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>New this year and worth knowing about even if you\u2019re not pitching.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Up to eight people will pitch an immersive experience or event idea on the Encore Theatre stage on Wednesday afternoon. Three minutes to pitch, two minutes for questions, voted on by a panel of three evaluators and the audience. The audience gets a real session of unfiltered new ideas \u2014 and you never know who\u2019s in the room ready to back one.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Where the IMEX sessions actually happen<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Trade show floors come with design constraints. IMEX has built around them with multiple session formats and locations:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The show floor theatres \u2014 same booth-based format as previous years, with a refreshed design, new seating, and new layout for 2026<\/li>\n<li>Booth-based sessions in Hall 8 \u2014 MPI, EIC, and partner sessions are still listed in the main programme<\/li>\n<li>Upstairs rooms for Brave Talks<\/li>\n<li>A fully redesigned Inspiration Hub<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you can\u2019t make a session: Snapsight<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">IMEX is working with Snapsight to push key takeaways into the app the moment a session ends. Full transcripts follow. New this year: live captioning in the room. If your meetings clash with a session you wanted, you\u2019re no longer fully locked out.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who should attend which IMEX sessions<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday sessions are open to everyone.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Monday is different:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Exclusively Corporate<\/strong> \u2014 invitation-only, corporate planners only, moderated sessions and discussion. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Association Forum<\/strong> \u2014 invitation-only, for association planners. Sessions blended with peer-to-peer time. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you fit either, you can apply through the IMEX website. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A practical IMEX education move for exhibitors<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Exhibitors usually skip education because they can\u2019t leave the booth. Here\u2019s a different play: pick one session and bring a client to it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thirty minutes. Pick something connected to a real conversation you\u2019ve been having \u2014 F&amp;B if you\u2019ve been negotiating menus, leadership if you\u2019ve been discussing team structure. You walk out with shared language, a fresh reference point, and something to talk about over dinner. Last year a hotel global event team brought six people just for sessions and got real value out of it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Education isn\u2019t time away from selling. It\u2019s a setting where selling stops feeling like selling.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Well-Being Lounge<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>If you haven\u2019t used it: do this year.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Between Hall 8 and Hall 9, up the stairs from Hall 9. Twenty-minute guided meditations, stretching, sound sessions, and a new quiet room with hammocks. Open from before the show starts on Tuesday until the end of Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Wednesday afternoon is when most people hit the wall \u2014 the headache, the not-enough-water, the late night. A 20-minute reset upstairs and you\u2019re a different person for the rest of the show.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Continuing education credits at IMEX<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many of us plan meetings for clients with Continuing Education credit requirements: CMP, CSP and ICCA Skills credits are available across a wide selection of IMEX sessions. If you\u2019re working towards a certification or maintaining one, build the credit-bearing sessions into your schedule first and slot meetings around them.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to actually plan your IMEX education week<\/h2>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">If you take one thing from this:<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Start with what you want to learn \u2014 not what\u2019s trending.<\/li>\n<li>Use tracks and tags to cut 200+ sessions to a shortlist of 6\u201310.<\/li>\n<li>Block two or three sessions a day before booking your meetings, not after.<\/li>\n<li>Keep one Well-Being Lounge slot in your calendar like it\u2019s a meeting. Because it is.<\/li>\n<li>If a session looks uncomfortable, that\u2019s probably the one.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every session on the IMEX programme exists because someone thought it mattered.
