I spend too much time looking at pre-owned watches. I have a problem, I admit it. This is bad for productivity, storage space and any lingering belief that the collection is almost complete. It is, however, useful when it comes to knowing where to look, how to compare prices and how to spot the difference between a genuine deal and an expensive error.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

I have bought pre-owned watches costing roughly \u00a350 through to luxury pieces around \u00a35,000. Most of those purchases have gone perfectly well. I have had over 50 watches in the collection, and at least half of them have been bought pre-owned\/second hand. Some required more research than others, particularly when buying from private sellers or overseas. And so, all images (unless otherwise stated) are of watches I’ve bought in the pre-owned market. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This guide is based on my experience, on the process I use myself: establish exactly what you’re looking for, search widely, compare the same watch across different platforms, investigate the seller and calculate the real price before buying.
