Double Mountain\u2019s Devil\u2019s Kriek was one of the first true wild ales inspired by Belgian Lambic brewed in the Pacific Northwest when they first introduced it in 2010. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; ; white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">At Double Mountain Brewery &amp; Cidery, the Brewer\u2019s Reserve Sour Program isn\u2019t just another lineup of specialty beers, it\u2019s a\u00a0 long-term labor of love. Crafted in small batches, fermented with wild cultures, and aged patiently for months (and sometimes\u00a0 years), these beers showcase the remarkable fruit of the Hood River Valley alongside the beauty of time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; ; white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">Each year, Double Mountain produces a limited collection of Belgian-style sour ales using locally grown fruit, house yeast\u00a0 cultures, and Brettanomyces. The beers rest on whole fruit for months before the brewers decide they\u2019re ready. Some are\u00a0 bottled straight from the fruit, while others continue their journey in oak barrels, developing even greater depth and complexity\u00a0 over another year or more.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; ; white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">This year, Double Mountain is proud to release two exceptional additions to the Brewer\u2019s Reserve lineup: <strong>2025 P\u00eache Mode\u00a0 <\/strong>Belgian Style Sour Ale Aged on Peaches and <strong>2024 Devil\u2019s Cuv\u00e9e Kriek <\/strong>Barrel-aged Belgian Style Sour Ale with Cherries. While\u00a0 both beers may make limited appearances on draft in the taprooms, they are primarily available in 375mL bottles, which are\u00a0 perfect for sharing, cellaring, or pairing with a special meal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; ; white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">For Head Brewer Greg Balch and the brewing team, patience extends well beyond the aging process. Brewing with Brettanomyces\u00a0 requires meticulous planning and an enormous amount of cleaning. \u201cWhen these beers are finished, we practically take the\u00a0 brewery apart and scrub everything down,\u201d says Balch. \u201cIt\u2019s days of work, but that\u2019s the price of making beers like these. They\u2019re\u00a0 unlike anything else we brew, and they\u2019re absolutely worth the effort.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; ; white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">The <strong>2025 P\u00eache Mode <\/strong>also marks the beginning of another chapter. A portion of this year\u2019s batch has already been transferred\u00a0 into freshly emptied oak barrels from Devil\u2019s Cuv\u00e9e, where it will continue aging for the next year before emerging as P\u00eache\u00a0 Cuv\u00e9e in late summer 2027.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">These beers represent some of the longest projects in Double Mountain\u2019s cellar and some of its most rewarding.
