And it does not become clearer after several chapters who this ‘mate’ might be. There is romance once more and that is when Diana Villiers appears of course, much to the delight and consternation of poor Stephen. We are treated to hear that Jack’s wife, Sophie, and family still matter so much to him, despite the fact that he appears to be most happy when he is aboard a ship and battling either with the sea or with an enemy nation.
I was glad to read that finally, Stephen and Diana get married, and on board a ship. It looks as though Diana loves Stephen despite the spell in a French prison cell! With hardly time to catch their breath, the pair of friends are then off to the Baltic for another exciting adventure. I found this book a little bit slower than the others with too many long confusing incidents.

View all my reviews

window.fbAsyncInit = function() {
  FB.init({
   appId : '190291501407',
   xfbml : true,
   version : 'v25.0'
  });
        // Set Facebook comment plugin's colorscheme based off of theme
  var comments = document.getElementsByClassName('facebook-comment-widget'),
   scheme = document.body.className.match('wsite-theme-light');
  for (var i = 0; i < comments.length; i++) {
   comments[i].setAttribute('colorscheme', scheme ?
