target=\"_blank\">Cascadeur 2026.2<\/a>, the new version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cascadeur.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">AI-assisted animation software<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a varied update, adding an animation layer system and easing controls for interpolation, updating AI inbetweening and motion generation, and adding BVH animation import.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Create animations based on real-world physics, aided by AI-based tools<\/strong><br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cgchannel.com\/2019\/10\/check-out-new-physics-based-animation-tool-cascadeur\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Launched in 2019<\/a>, Cascadeur is intended as an artist-friendly alternative to conventional animation software for game development, motion graphics or visual effects work.<\/p>\n<p>Although it has standard tools for rigging, posing and animating characters, its unique selling point is a set of AI-assisted, semi-automated toolsets.<\/p>\n<p>Key poses can be quickly established for a character via the <a href=\"https:\/\/cascadeur.com\/help\/tools\/animation_tools\/autoposing\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AutoPosing<\/a> system, which lets users reposition a small number of joints, and have Cascadeur take care of the rest of the body.<\/p>\n<p>For a jumping character, the software can then calculate a physically correct trajectory between the key poses.<\/p>\n<p>For other types of motion, a separate AI-trained system, <a href=\"https:\/\/cascadeur.com\/help\/tools\/physics_tools\/autophysics\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AutoPhysics<\/a>, converts an existing keyframe animation into a physically accurate version of itself.<\/p>\n<p>Once generated, animations may be exported FBX, Collada or USD format for use in other DCC applications, or game engines like Unity and Unreal Engine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New animation layers system helps edit animations non-destructively<\/strong><br \/>The main new feature in Cascadeur 2026.2 is the new <a href=\"https:\/\/cascadeur.com\/help\/category\/318?_gl=1\" target=\"_blank\">animation layer system<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As in other 3D software, it makes it possible to separate a character\u2019s motion into separate layers, which are then combined additively to form the complete animation.<\/p>\n<p>The workflow makes it possible to edit animation non-destructively by adding or removing layers, or enabling them in different combinations.<\/p>\n<p>The toolset is currently still in alpha, and Nekki says that it plans to update it in future releases.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cgchannel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/260806_Cascadeur20262_Easing.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"477\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-177898\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>New easing controls for interpolation<\/strong><br \/>The other major addition is <a href=\"https:\/\/cascadeur.com\/help\/category\/317?_gl=1\" target=\"_blank\">Easing<\/a> for interpolation, making it possible to adjust the spacing of frames along an interpolated trajectory.<\/p>\n<p>That makes it possible to vary the speed at which an object moves along the trajectory without affecting its shape: for example, to create natural acceleration and deceleration effects.<\/p>\n<p>It is available for Cascadeur\u2019s Linear and Bezier <a href=\"https:\/\/cascadeur.com\/help\/tools\/timeline_tools\/interpolation\" target=\"_blank\">Interpolation models<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Updates to the AI motion generation and inbetweening systems<\/strong><br \/>There are also updates to existing features, particularly Root Motion, the new motion-generation system added in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cgchannel.com\/2026\/04\/nekki-releases-cascadeur-2026-1\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cascadeur 2026.1<\/a>, which has been renamed\u2026 well, Motion Generation.<\/p>\n<p>Both it and Cascadeur\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cgchannel.com\/2025\/04\/nekki-releases-cascadeur-2025-1-with-ai-based-inbetweening\/\" target=\"_blank\">AI inbetweening<\/a> system now use AI models trained on larger data sets.<\/p>\n<p>The AutoPosing system now handles quadrupeds better, and takes better account of the surrounding environment when posing humanoid characters\u2019 hands and feet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other changes: BVH import, new MCP server, more language support<\/strong><br \/>For pipeline integration, Cascadeur can now import animation data in BVH format, often used for motion capture, although it doesn\u2019t currently read other scene data from BVH files.<\/p>\n<p>The software also now has a \u201csimple\u201d MCP server, making it possible to connect it to external AI tools \u2013 for example, to control the software using a LLM like Claude.<\/p>\n<p>Developers get the option to create custom UI elements using PySide, and support for Intellisense in Cascadeur\u2019s Python API modules. <\/p>\n<p>Cascadeur\u2019s own UI is now available in Chinese, Japanese and Korean, as well as English, with further language packs to follow in future releases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Price and system requirements<\/strong><br \/>Cascadeur 2026.2 is compatible with Windows 10+, Ubuntu 20.04+ Linux and macOS 13.3+.<\/p>\n<p>For users earning under $100,000\/year, Indie subscriptions cost $19\/month or $96\/year.
