The Delhi High Court indicated that it was inclined to direct the removal of a film teaser depicting the 1998 black buck poaching case involving actor Salman Khan. The proceedings concern allegations that the teaser uses the actor\u2019s name, image and identity without authorisation. The Court considered the grievance raised on the basis of alleged unauthorised commercial use of Salman Khan\u2019s personality and listed the matter for further orders.<\/p>\n

Bombay High Court permits Nitin Gadkari to sue Meta and Google over AI deepfake<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Bombay High Court permitted Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to proceed with his suit against Meta and Google over AI-generated deepfake videos allegedly misrepresenting his views on ethanol-blended (E20) fuel. The Court held that the plaint disclosed triable issues and allowed the proceedings to continue against the platform operators in accordance with law.<\/p>\n

Delhi High Court: Copyright owners and ISPs cannot unilaterally declare websites as \u2018rogue\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Delhi High Court held that copyright owners and internet service providers cannot themselves determine whether a website is a \u2018rogue website\u2019. The Court observed that such a finding must be made by a competent court after considering the relevant material and legal requirements and clarified the limits of private enforcement measures in copyright disputes.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court declined to stay the release of the film \u2018Mahaprabhu Jagannath\u2019 and refused to interfere with the certification granted by the Central Board of Film Certification. The order came in proceedings challenging the release of the film on grounds relating to its depiction of religious subject matter.<\/p>\n

      The Delhi High Court granted an interim injunction in favour of Kiranakart Technologies Private Limited<\/strong>, the owner of the \u201cZEPTO\u201d<\/strong> trademarks, restraining the defendants from using the marks \u201cZEPTO FINANCE\u201d<\/strong>, \u201cZEPTO FINTECH\u201d<\/strong>, or any other mark deceptively similar to \u201cZEPTO\u201d<\/strong>. The Court observed that Zepto had established a strong prima facie case based on its prior adoption, extensive use, and registrations of the \u201cZEPTO\u201d<\/strong> mark across multiple classes. It further held that the defendants\u2019 use of the impugned marks was likely to cause confusion and create an association with the plaintiff\u2019s well-known quick commerce business. Accordingly, pending disposal of the suit, the defendants were restrained from using the impugned marks or any other deceptively similar mark in relation to their business activities.=<\/p>\n
