And it\u2019s not exactly political, but it is when you consider this person. Many thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/trump-todd-blanche-money-laundering\/\"><em>Raw Story<\/em><\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>*****<\/p>\n<p>Debanking (via Google)<\/p>\n<p>Debanking is the sudden closure or denial of bank accounts and financial services by a financial institution, often without a detailed explanation. It typically happens due to risk management, compliance policies, or perceived reputational and political concerns.<\/p>\n<p>*****<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>Court documents <strong>revealing<\/strong> that President Donald\u00a0<strong>Trump\u00a0was de-banked after a money laundering probe<\/strong> have <strong>been linked to a reinvigorated effort to protect him from prosecution by acting Attorney General Todd Blanche<\/strong>. Capital One\u2019s <strong>July 31 filing<\/strong> marked <strong><u>the first time<\/u> a bank <u>formally tied<\/u> anti-money laundering concerns to Trump\u2019s business empire<\/strong>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aljazeera.com\/economy\/2026\/8\/2\/capital-one-cites-anti-money-laundering-concerns-in-trump-organization-case\">according to Al Jazeera<\/a>. Two days later, <strong>Blanche tried to lock in a written guarantee<\/strong> <strong>barring the IRS from auditing<\/strong> Trump, his family, and his business entities for conduct predating the settlement,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2026\/08\/03\/g-s1-136864\/todd-blanche-rescinds-trump-anti-weaponization-fund\">according to NPR<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Now isn\u2019t this interesting? That\u2019s something that hadn\u2019t occurred to us \u2013 that Trump would be playing fast and loose with the money. Trump can never have enough money. It\u2019s almost a sure bet that he would like to have more money than Elon does, but that\u2019s a pretty big stretch for Donnie. He\u2019ll have to come up with more grifts to get that high. He won\u2019t give up the ridiculous, overdone plane that he was given. That\u2019s quite a chunk of change right there. But, back on topic, it appears there is suspicion, although not necessarily proof, that Trump might be washing some money. You just never know.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201cFriday: <strong>Capital One reveals<\/strong> Trump was debanked <strong>bc he was laundering money<\/strong>. Sunday: <strong>Acting Attorney General solidifies promise his tax crimes won\u2019t be punished<\/strong>,\u201d national security blogger Marcy Wheeler\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/emptywheel\/status\/2084243578188890248\">wrote<\/a>\u00a0on X. <strong>Trump had long claim<\/strong>ed his accounts were <strong>closed for political reasons<\/strong> following <strong>the Jan. 6 Capitol riot <\/strong>\u2014 a narrative <strong>he used to justify<\/strong> the Trump family\u2019s <strong>crypto pivot<\/strong>, according to Al Jazeera. The new filing <strong>directly contradicted<\/strong> that claim..<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cCapital One <strong>closed Plaintiffs\u2019 accounts for anti-money laundering<\/strong> (\u2018AML\u2019) <strong>reasons<\/strong>,\u201d the filing states. \u201cThe closures <strong>were the result of months of analysis and a careful review by Capital One\u2019s AML team<\/strong> in accordance with <strong>bank policies and regulatory guidance<\/strong>.\u201d The bank <strong>had kept those findings confidential for five years<\/strong>. <strong>The anti-money laundering rationale only became public <u>because Trump sued<\/u><\/strong>, according to <strong>the filing<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trump shot himself in the arse. Trump sued; news comes out. Bet he didn\u2019t plan on that happening, or he forgot about it. We don\u2019t know how much he retains these days. Closed for AML reasons. Yikes. Is the ketchup flying yet? It\u2019s surprising we haven\u2019t heard him blow up Truth Social over this. It\u2019s impossible to keep it quiet.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>Political commentator Amanda Carpenter\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/amandacarpenter\/status\/2083940645245157582\">connected<\/a>\u00a0the two disclosures. \u201cTurns out <strong>Capital One flagged them for money laundering<\/strong>. And <strong>it\u2019s a coincidence<\/strong> that <strong>Blanche wrote the memo to give the Trump family immunity from IRS audits<\/strong>?\u201d \u201cAre we supposed to be <strong>fine w<\/strong> <strong>IRS audit immunity<\/strong> for the Trump family?\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/amandacarpenter\/status\/2084234568693858470\">Carpenter added<\/a>. \u201c<strong><u>This is an obscene protection racket<\/u><\/strong>.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>By the way, the IRS protection did not include Ivanka. Interesting. Still, it\u2019s something, alright. Trump is trying to set himself up as untouchable. Let\u2019s fervently hope he can\u2019t. You never know what he\u2019s going to try next. And he\u2019d better have a damn good will on file because he won\u2019t outlast the others in his family. Can you imagine the legal battles? But Trump is going to keep going longer than we expect or hope because he\u2019s that ornery and self-centered. Ugh.<\/p>\n<p>DISCLAIMER: I do not know anything about debanking beyond what I learned in a search. I do not have any legal experience.
