Formerly Blender-only asset library Blendkit<\/a> has just opened up its content to users of other software: DCC application Maya, CAD tool Rhino, and the Godot game engine.<\/p>\n The firm\u2019s experimental new add-ons<\/a> make it possible to browse and download assets directly inside each host app.<\/p>\n At the time of writing, the library contains over 22,000 free 3D models, 36,000 free materials, 4,000 free HDRIs, and 1,000 free brushes, for use in commercial projects.<\/p>\n A large library of stock assets for CG artists of all types<\/strong> It provides a large library of assets for use in visualization, animation, games and VFX projects: mainly 3D models and materials, but also a range of other content.<\/p>\n Unlike most online libraries, you can\u2019t download assets directly from the Blendkit website: you need to install the Blendkit add-on<\/a>.<\/p>\n It adds a menu bar inside your host software from which you can search content on the site, inspect details of individual assets, then drag and drop them directly into a scene.<\/p>\n You can also browse the library online, and click on the \u2018Get this\u2019 button for individual assets, which shows a download code that you can then paste into the Blender add-on.<\/p>\n Now available for Maya, Rhino and Godot as well as Blender<\/strong> If you use the Maya<\/a> or Rhino add-on<\/a>, you also need Blender installed on the same machine, as the plugins use it to convert the original .blend files to a format the host app can use.<\/p>\n

Previously, the integration plugin \u2013 and therefore the assets \u2013 were only available for Blender, but Blendkit has now released new plugins for Maya, Rhino and Godot.<\/p>\n
