Following s 42.4% year-on-year growth\u00a0 announcement for its sales performance in the 1st half of 2026, GWM Malaysia has stated that they brand intends to strengthen its second-half momentum through new product introductions, customer initiatives and a strategic partnership with Touch \u2019n Go. The media briefing happened earlier this evening and as the first initiative under the partnership, every new GWM vehicle booked and registered, in Peninsular Malaysia, from 1st August 2026 onwards will come equipped with a pre-installed or bundled Touch n Go x GWM Branded RFID tag as standard, enabling customers a smooth, convenient and cashless tolling experience from day one of ownership.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the first half of 2026, GWM Malaysia had delivered 3,166 vehicles, which is a 42.4% year-on-year increase and securing its position among the Top 11 best-selling automotive brands in Malaysia. During the event, the representatives stated that for 2026, GWM intends to sell as many as 10,000 units of GWM vehicles here for this year (up from over 6,000 units in 2025).<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Sales momentum accelerated throughout the first half of the year, increasing from 1,294 units in Q1 to\u00a0<\/span>1,872 units in Q2, representing a 44.7% quarter-on-quarter increase. Growth was driven by strong performances across GWM’;s portfolio:<\/span><\/p>\n

The WEY G9 Hi4 PHEV MPV sales grew from 421 units in Q1 to 707 units in Q2, maintaining its position as Malaysia’s No. 1-selling luxury MPV among officially distributed OEM brands. The HAVAL H6 HEV increased from 656 units to 895 units, remaining GWM Malaysia’s highest- volume model. The ORA GOOD CAT EV almost doubled quarterly sales, recording 93% quarter-on-quarter growth – most likely driven by the sportier looking facelift launched earlier this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stan Li Hao, Managing Director, Commercial Operations of GWM Malaysia, said, “Our strongest-ever first-half performance reflects the growing confidence Malaysians have in GWM’s products,\u00a0<\/span>technologies and long-term commitment to the market. As we enter the second half of 2026, we\u00a0<\/span>remain focused on expanding our product portfolio, strengthening our presence in Malaysia and\u00a0<\/span>delivering even greater value to our customers.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Building on its record first-half performance, GWM Malaysia expects positive momentum to continue i<\/span>nto the second half of the year, supported by increasing consumer acceptance of hybrid<\/span><\/p>\n

technologies, an expanding product portfolio and a supportive automotive policy environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following the strong reception at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, GWM Malaysia is preparing to introduce the GWM ORA 5 HEV and GWM HAVAL H7 Hi4 PHEV, while the GWM TANK 300 HEV is expected to continue gaining momentum as more Malaysians embrace hybrid mobility.<\/span><\/p>\n

GWM Malaysia also welcomed the Government’s decision to postpone the implementation of PUA 402, allowing consumers to benefit from existing vehicle pricing structures for a longer period. The company believes the move will help sustain market confidence and support continued growth across the automotive industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the upcoming enhancements to the Hire Purchase Act are expected to improve financing<\/span><\/p>\n

transparency and accessibility, further strengthening consumer confidence while supporting a healthier automotive ecosystem.<\/span><\/p>\n

The GWM X Touch n Go arrangement<\/u><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

As part of its continued commitment to improving the ownership journey, GWM Malaysia also signed\u00a0<\/span>a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Touch n Go Sdn Bhd to deliver smarter and\u00a0<\/span>more connected mobility solutions. The collaboration aims to provide GWM customers with a\u00a0<\/span>seamless, reliable and secure tolling experience, while advancing Malaysia\u2019s vision for Multi-Lane\u00a0<\/span>Fast Flow (MLFF) implementation.<\/span><\/p>\n

As the first initiative under the partnership, every new GWM vehicle booked and registered from 1\u00a0<\/span>August 2026 onwards will come equipped with a pre-installed or bundled Touch n Go x GWM\u00a0<\/span>Branded RFID tag as standard, enabling customers a smooth, convenient and cashless tolling\u00a0<\/span>experience from day one of ownership. This means that the new owners of GWM vehicles have basically saved RM35 (which is the cost of the RFID sticker) and the need to install it on their vehicles.<\/span><\/p>\n
