I called a friend for some help\u2026. It wasn\u2019t an easy call. I was already feeling defeated and overwhelmed and decided to lean on my community. A tough thing to do when you\u2019re an \u201cI\u2019ve got this\u201d leader<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
Less than warm. Even less helpful. Almost snarky.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
It left me feeling embarrassed and sad. I felt like I have always been there and have been willing to share anything I can do to help them rise. A resource? No problem. A referral, good word, solid advice? Whatever it takes. Because here\u2019s the thing: helping someone else rise doesn\u2019t bury you. When we build together, we all rise. We get stronger by lifting, not weaker.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
I can\u2019t control how someone responds when I ask for help, but I can control what I learn from it. Here\u2019s what I\u2019ll be carrying with me moving forward<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
Be the person you needed.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 Just because someone couldn\u2019t show up for you doesn\u2019t mean you stop showing up for others. Let disappointment shape your discernment, not your character.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
\u00a0 Not everyone will say yes, and not every conversation will go the way you hope. But one \u201cno\u201d should never stop you from reaching out. The right people are out there, and they\u2019re often waiting to help.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
Build the kind of community you want to belong to.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
\u00a0 \u00a0 Celebrate wins. Make introductions. Share resources. Open doors. The strongest networks aren\u2019t built on competition. They\u2019re built on generosity, trust, and the belief that there\u2019s enough room for all of us.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
