I am delighted to feature the latest novel by Maggie Christensen<\/b> whose novel, Finding Forever in Pelican Crossing\u00a0<\/i>will be published by Cala Publishing<\/b> on August 6th.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When Paige Harper arrives in Pelican Crossing to visit her
\nailing grandmother, she plans a short trip\u2014just enough time to make sure her
\ngrandmother recovers before heading back to her busy city life. But when her
\ngrandmother unexpectedly passes away, Paige is hesitant to leave the small
\ncoastal town, unable to shake the pull of its quiet charm.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bob Reed, the laid-back local vet, has settled back into his
\nlife in Pelican Crossing after spending a year at Colorado University. He is
\nsurprised when he receives an offer to apply for a permanent position at the
\nuniversity\u2014a tempting opportunity to embrace a very different path. Torn
\nbetween his love for the peaceful coastal life and the draw of a more
\nstructured, academic future, Bob faces a tough choice.<\/span><\/p>\n

When Paige and Bob cross paths, they\u2019re worlds apart\u2014she,
\nthe city professional, and he, the easy-going surfer. But a series of
\nunexpected encounters brings them closer, and what begins as an unlikely
\nfriendship turns into something much more.<\/span><\/p>\n

With Bob facing a career-defining decision and Paige bound
\nto her life in the city, they must determine if their newfound connection is
\nstrong enough to overcome the obstacles in their way. Can they find a way to be

\u00a0My Thoughts<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Paige’s visit to her ill grandmother turns out to be a protracted stay which gives her the opportunity to re-evaluate her life and hopes for the future.\u00a0 Her work in the city in the hotel trade has been her main focus and she has let family links fall somewhat. She recognises in Pelican Crossing a community she begins to feel part of and some growing friendships take her by surprise. In particular, she finds herself attracted to the local vet, Bob, who himself is torn between a new life in America and staying in Pelican Crossing where he is very content.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 The reactions of Paige’s grown-up children takes her by surprise and their selfish attitude becomes clear to her. This visit to Pelican Crossing shows the benefit of friendship and community along with second chance romance and having the courage to start again.<\/span><\/p>\n

In short: later love and a new start\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Aft<\/span>er a
\ncareer in education, Maggie Christensen<\/b> began writing contemporary women\u2019s
\nfiction portraying mature women facing life-changing situations, and historical
\nfiction set in her native Scotland. Her travels inspire her writing, be it her
\ntrips to visit family in Scotland, in Oregon, USA or her home on Queensland\u2019s
\nbeautiful Sunshine Coast. Maggie writes of mature heroines coming to terms with
\nchanges in their lives and the heroes worthy of them. Maggie has been called the
\nqueen of mature age fiction<\/i> and her writing has been described by one
\nreviewer as like a nice warm cup of tea.
\nIt is warm, nourishing, comforting and embracing.<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

From the
\nsmall town in Scotland where she grew up, Maggie was lured to Australia by the
\ncall to \u2018Come and teach in the sun\u2019. Once there, she worked as a primary school
\nteacher, university lecturer and in educational management. Now living with her
\nhusband of over thirty years on Queensland\u2019s Sunshine Coast, she loves walking
\non the deserted beach in the early mornings and having coffee by the river on
\nweekends. Her days are spent surrounded by books, either reading or writing
\nthem \u2013 her idea of heaven!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
