<\/a><\/div>\nToday\u2019s podcast by Dan Lok raised my eyebrows and caught my attention right away. The less than 3-minute talk is short and simple and it\u2019s something that most of us, especially those who are striving to be successful, should consider.<\/p>\n
According to him, it\u2019s not that rich people only befriend those who are in the same class or status rather, it\u2019s because those who are wealthy and\/or capable have these qualities:<\/p>\n
\u2714\ufe0fSuccessful<\/p>\n
\u2714\ufe0fGrowth-oriented<\/p>\n
\u2714\ufe0fPositive<\/p>\n
These kinds of people are something that they are comfortable hanging out with simply because they have something in common, like starting a business or making an impact.<\/p>\n
Rich people are even willing to pay high-ticket prices, such as golf memberships just to hang out with them and talk about things that would help them become better personally and in many other aspects.<\/p>\n
Now, the more that we become successful or even focused on our goals, there\u2019s a chance for us to have less in common with our friends because often, according to him, these people are:<\/p>\n
\u274cBitching<\/p>\n
\u274cMoaning<\/p>\n
\u274cActing like victims<\/p>\n
There are a lot of meaningless things that waste time, like gossiping. He also mentioned having things that don\u2019t resonate with successful people anymore, such as having a scarcity mindset and behavior.<\/p>\n
Of course, there\u2019s this thing about \u201cbeing only friends because they can get something out of you\u201d whereas, with rich or like-minded people, they hang out not because they need money, a job, and the like.<\/p>\n
And guess what? It actually made sense.<\/p>\n
This ECQ, I met a wonderful group of people — the Passionate Creators Community.<\/p>\n
I haven\u2019t met most of these people but the impact they created on me is massive; it\u2019s something that I rarely get with the people I\u2019ve met before and I hope this won\u2019t be taken the wrong way.<\/p>\n
I treasure the peers I\u2019ve been with before and not to sound too emotional, but I will forever keep those memories. But right now, as I am growing a couple of businesses, and most of the time it\u2019s overwhelming because of the continuous success and failures, it feels good to belong in a community that went through the same shits yet chooses to survive; it\u2019s amazing to meet people (who will eventually turn to friends and families) who are walking in the same direction as you are.<\/p>\n
Having the right mindset when you want to become rich and successful is one thing; choosing the right circle of friends and people around you is another.<\/p>\n
As time goes by, you are expected to become older and wiser; older, it\u2019s inevitable but becoming wiser is not always the case.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I believe maturity and becoming wise depends on many things, such as the decisions you make, your personal investments, such as education and training, again, your mindset, and the people you choose to surround you.<\/p>\n
A wise man once said: \u201cTell me who your friends are and I tell you who you are.\u201d<\/p>\n
