Unfortunately, we couldn\u2019t make the trip over to LA to pick up our award, but the festival director commented that <em>\u201ccompetition was extremely high this year and \u2018The Mouse\u2019 was a success both with our judges and with our audience.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"LAAF 2018 Nov 30 - Dec 2\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ty1Ll9u7Hmk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/voicingcsa.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Voicing CSA<\/a> (Child Sex Abuse) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.truthproject.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Truth Project <\/a>work to help adult survivors of child sexual abuse find their voice, and we collaborated with patron Christopher Harper (Nathan Curtis, Coronation Street) and chair Phillip Lafferty, to produce this short film (below) to educate people about the dangers of child sexual abuse and child sexual exploitation.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Truth Project \/ Voicing CSA: The Mouse\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/235004702?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Director, Katie Steed, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>I\u2019m absolutely delighted and hugely honored that The Mouse has won this fantastic award, and most importantly, I am thrilled that by screening this film, the festival was able to get it\u2019s message out to a wider audience of people to whom it could potentially make a tiny but vital difference.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Founded in 2007, the Los Angeles Animation Festival is LA\u2019s only international film festival and symposium, which aims to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Help create new jobs, promote and invigorate the traditional animation industry in the US<\/li>\n<li>Help individuals to<span class=\"text_exposed_show\"> network and get exposure in order to bridge the gap between amateur and professional<br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"text_exposed_show\">Expose the LA audience, both animation professionals and \u201ccivilians\u201d to great animation from the US and around the world<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A complete list of the winners can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.laafest.com\/winners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Other NOTABLE screenings &amp; festivals<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>The Mouse took part in two different programmes at this year\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/hiroanim.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hiroshima Animation Festival<\/a>: <span lang=\"EN-US\">Best of the World\u201d and \u201cAnimation for Peace\u201d.<br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Following on from the Portuguese premiere in March, The Mouse was screening at<span class=\"m_5590282261636664755gmail-s1\"> the music festival <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osoldacaparica-festival.pt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">O Sol da Caparica<\/a> in August, where i<\/span><span class=\"m_5590282261636664755gmail-s1\">nstead of advertisement between concerts, animated films were screened.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>The Mouse\u2019s last US screening was in September at <a href=\"http:\/\/consciouscartoons.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Conscious Cartoons International Animation Festival<\/a>, Washington.
