{"id":68022,"date":"2025-02-04T15:17:32","date_gmt":"2025-02-04T15:17:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/aerospace\/jal-group-announces-changes-to-board-and-executive-members\/"},"modified":"2025-02-04T15:17:32","modified_gmt":"2025-02-04T15:17:32","slug":"jal-group-announces-changes-to-board-and-executive-members","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=68022","title":{"rendered":"JAL Group announces changes to board and executive members"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>After reducing its top management members\u2019 pay over a pilot drinking incident, the JAL Group announced changes to its board and executive members.<\/p>\n<p>The group said that the changes were decided on following a board meeting on February 4, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe JAL Group will strive in unity towards ensuring the highest level of safety in all flight operations, continue to improve the quality of the products and services to our valued customers, and raise its corporate value and contribute to the growth and development of society,\u201d the group said in a statement.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-1\"\/>\n<p>The changes and new assignments are as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>AKASAKA Yuji<\/strong><br \/><strong>Current position<\/strong>: Representative Director-Chairperson<br \/><strong>New position<\/strong>: Representative Director-Chairperson<br \/><strong>Current assignment: <\/strong>Chair of Board Meetings and Chief Safety Officer<br \/><strong>New assignment<\/strong>: Chair of Board Meetings\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>NAKAGAWA Yukio\u00a0<\/strong><br \/><strong>Current position:<\/strong> Executive Officer<br \/><strong>New position:<\/strong> Managing Executive Officer<br \/><strong>Current assignment: <\/strong>Senior VP \u2013 Procurement<br \/><strong>New assignment:<\/strong> Senior VP \u2013 Corporate Safety and Security, Family Assistance and Support Chief Safety Officer<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-2\"\/>\n<p><strong>TACHIBANA Munekazu<\/strong><br \/><strong>Current position<\/strong>: Managing Executive Officer<br \/><strong>New position<\/strong>: Executive Officer<br \/><strong>Current assignment<\/strong>: Senior VP \u2013 Corporate Safety and Security, Family Assistance and Support<br \/><strong>New assignment: <\/strong>Special Assistant to the President<\/p>\n<p><strong>OGAWA Noriko<\/strong><br \/><strong>New appointment<\/strong><br \/><strong>Position<\/strong>: Executive Officer<br \/><strong>Assignment<\/strong>: Senior VP \u2013 Procurement and Deputy Senior VP \u2013 General Affairs<\/p>\n<p>In January 2025, local media outlets announced that the group would reduce pay for two top executives by 30% for two months over a December 2024 drinking incident involving JAL pilots. The media named two of these executives as JAL President Mitsuko Tottori and Chairperson Yuji Akasaka.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-3\"\/>\n<p>Three other executives from the airline\u2019s flight operations and safety management divisions have also been given disciplinary actions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On December 1, 2024, flight JL 774 was scheduled to fly out from Melbourne Airport (MEL) to Tokyo\u2019s Narita Airport (NRT), when two pilots tested above the alcohol limit, resulting in the flight being delayed for more than three hours.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, some JAL managers took pay cuts of up to 20% for a three-month period after a pilot showed up for a flight from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Tokyo with excessive alcohol in his system. The pilot was subsequently jailed.
