It\u2019s been a tickle to see people\u2019s reactions when they are informed that I\u2019m going to Albania, usually with a crinkled nose:<\/p>\n

\u2018Really? Albania? What\u2019s there?\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Exactly! No one seems to know and that\u2019s the part of travel I love so much: venturing into the unknown and sharing with you what I found!<\/p>\n

Both Mark and had always wanted to go to Albania<\/a> for the best part of the last two years but with life and medical stuff getting in the way, both of us kept putting it off to ensure we get the best out of Albania.<\/p>\n

First on our top to do in Albania is to hike the \u2018Accursed Mountains\u2019 in Northern Albania. It\u2019s a brilliant place to get away from 21st centurty Europe and explore the stunning and scenic green valleys, the jagged rock pinnacles and the very traditional villages that dot around. Plus, there\u2019s forests also where wolves still roam \u2013 yes, it\u2019s positively medieval!<\/p>\n

Other than the Accursed Mountains, we look forward to be exploring \u2018The City of a Thousand Windows\u2019 \u2013 Berat \u2013 one of the countries oldest cities wth Ottoman influences, the Llogora Pass \u2013 of the most scenic drives in the world, the ruins of Apollonia and checking out the Albanian side of Lake Ohrid.<\/p>\n

We cannot wait!<\/p>\n
