The spirits house then tapped Dr. Bill Lumsden, one of the world\u2019s best master distillers known for his work on Scotch whisky brands like Glenmorangie and Ardbeg, to lead the charge.<\/p>\n Lumsden selected the brand\u2019s mash bill, a rare combination of 51% rye and 49% malted barley. He employed traditional whiskey-making techniques to achieve an elegant mouthfeel and texture reminiscent of Japanese and Scotch whiskies without losing the deep, robust flavors typical of classic American rye<\/a>.<\/p>\n SirDavis is named in honor of Davis Hogue, Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s paternal great-grandfather, who was a farmer and a moonshiner in the American South during Prohibition. This discovery inspired Beyonc\u00e9 to create her own whiskey brand four generations later.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve always been drawn to the power and confidence I feel when drinking quality whisky and wanted to invite more people to experience that feeling,\u201d said Beyonc\u00e9 Knowles-Carter. \u201cWhen I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man, it felt like my love for whisky was fated.
