Our bus ticket said it would take 12 hours, so I assumed it would be at least 14 hours. We stocked up on snacks and drinks because we weren\u2019t sure how often we would stop. We were pleasantly surprised when:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They fed us breakfast AND lunch on board.<\/li>\n<li>Our seats reclined back 75 degrees and had a foot rest.<\/li>\n<li>We arrived in Siem Reap after only eight hours.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Crossing the Thailand-Cambodia border, now THAT was an experience. We were given a crash course into how to cross the border by our bus driver. \u201cFirst, exit stamp from Thailand, walk, Cambodia visa, then Cambodia stamp. Meet back on bus by hotel.\u201d\u00a0<em>Um\u2026 ok? Sounds simple enough.<\/em> Five minutes later, we hear, \u201cQuick, everybody off!\u201d We literally hopped off the bus as it was still moving. We followed the crowd of people through Thailand\u2019s immigration. <em>Easy, peasy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Then we walked outside, followed the sidewalk towards a sign saying Kingdom of Cambodia, and then chaos ensued. Guys on motorbikes asking if we needed rides. Buses and vans to our right getting inspected. Other people from our bus had gone off in all directions.<\/p>\n<p><em>So where do you think we go now? I think he said something about a palace? Maybe that big building?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We asked one of the motorbike guys where to go and he pointed us down another sidewalk filled with street vendors.\u00a0\u201cOh! There\u2019s the hotel we\u2019re supposed to meet at. And there\u2019s our bus!\u201d As we crossed the street and approached our bus, we realized we hadn\u2019t gotten our Cambodian visa or stamp, yet we had somehow already crossed over into Cambodia.<em>\u00a0<\/em>Our bus driver kindly showed us back to the Visa on Arrival office (still not sure how other people found it) and then guided us to the random cement building where our visa was stamped.<\/p>\n<p><em>How did we just do that? It\u2019s harder to get into a local farmers\u2019 market in Colorado than to enter the country of Cambodia.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-738\" src=\"http:\/\/www.uniquetraveladventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Siem-Reap-Tuk-Tuk-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1328\" height=\"747\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.uniquetraveladventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Siem-Reap-Tuk-Tuk-1.jpeg 1328w, https:\/\/www.uniquetraveladventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Siem-Reap-Tuk-Tuk-1-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.uniquetraveladventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Siem-Reap-Tuk-Tuk-1-768x432.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.uniquetraveladventures.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Siem-Reap-Tuk-Tuk-1-1024x576.jpeg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1328px) 100vw, 1328px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival in Siem Reap, our tuk tuk driver was waiting to take us to our hostel. Cambodia\u2019s tuk tuks are more like chariots compared to Thai tuk tuks.
