A moment that<br \/>\nhelpfully reminds us, when we\u2019re quick to complain about the outsized influence<br \/>\nof celebs in our moment or on the public, that it\u2019s been thus for at least half<br \/>\na century now.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\" style=\"margin-top: 12.0pt; mso-add-space: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: 142.5pt; text-indent: -.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;\"><span style=\"mso-list: Ignore;\">2)<span style=\"font: 7.0pt &quot;Times New Roman&quot;;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><!--[endif]--><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/4894301\/elvis-president-nixon-photo\/\">Elvis and Nixon<\/a>:<br \/>\nAs that <i>Time<\/i> article indicates, the most-requested photo from the<br \/>\nNational Archives is the one that captures the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehousehistory.org\/digital-library\/exhibits\/the-president-of-the-united-states-meets-the-king-of-rock-n-roll\">December<br \/>\n1970 Oval Office meeting<\/a> between the President and the King. It wasn\u2019t an<br \/>\nendorsement exactly\u2014Nixon was in between campaigns at the time, and Presley<br \/>\nwasn\u2019t there to support any particular policy or the like\u2014but it nonetheless<br \/>\nreflects that the intersection between musical celebrities and political figures<br \/>\nis likewise nothing new.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpLast\" style=\"margin-top: 12.0pt; mso-add-space: auto; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; tab-stops: 142.5pt; text-indent: -.25in;\"><!--[if !supportLists]--><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;\"><span style=\"mso-list: Ignore;\">3)<span style=\"font: 7.0pt &quot;Times New Roman&quot;;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><!--[endif]--><span style=\"mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.com\/news\/celebrities-presidential-elections-endorsements\">Sinatra<br \/>\nand Multiple Campaigns<\/a>: My man Bruce Springsteen might have eclipsed the<br \/>\nrecord over the last few presidential campaigns, but for a good while no<br \/>\nmusicians had endorsed more such campaigns than did Frank Sinatra. And likely no<br \/>\nother has crossed party lines in the way Ol\u2019 Blue Eyes did\u2014campaigning with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/when-sinatra-campaigned-for-fdr\/\">FDR in<br \/>\n1944<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jfklibrary.org\/learn\/about-jfk\/life-of-john-f-kennedy\/fast-facts-john-f-kennedy\/high-hopes\">JFK<br \/>\nin 1960<\/a> but later <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/sinatra-from-kennedy-man-to-reaganite\/\">endorsing<br \/>\nRonald Reagan<\/a> during his 1980 campaign.
