Aviation Administration (FAA) Acting Administrator, the other ordering an immediate assessment of aviation safety.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The orders were issued following the catastrophic midair collision between an American Eagle regional jet and a US Army Black Hawk helicopter over the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), resulting in the presumed deaths of all 67 on board the two aircraft.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"cnvs-block-posts cnvs-block-posts-1738328585584 cnvs-block-posts-layout-horizontal-type-2-read-more\" data-layout=\"horizontal-type-2-read-more\" \/>\n\t<\/aside>\n<p>On January 30, 2025, during a press briefing at the White House, President Trump announced the appointment of Chris Rocheleau as the new Acting Administrator of the FAA. The National Business Aviation Association\u2019s (NBAA) <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaa.org\/2025-press-releases\/nbaa-welcomes-chris-rocheleaus-selection-as-faa-acting-administrator-at-a-critical-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">stated<\/a> that Rocheleau will serve in this role until the Senate confirms Trump\u2019s nominee for the permanent position.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-1\"\/>\n<p>\u201cChris is an outstanding leader who will be good for the FAA, good for aviation and good for the country, especially at this challenging time,\u201d said Ed Bolen, NBAA President and CEO.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rocheleau joins the FAA after three years as the NBAA Chief Operating Officer.
