This dram takes its inspiration from Sir Rod Stewart\u2019s favourite dessert \u201c warm apple pie\u201d. <\/p>\n<p><strong>About Wolfie\u2019s Whisky:<\/strong><br \/>Designed to reflect Sir Rod Stewart\u2019s rock \u2018n\u2019 roll heritage, with subtle nods to Americana, Wolfie\u2019s is a blended Scotch whisky (\u00a335, wolfieswhisky.com) that was inspired by the legendary musician\u2019s early hell raising days with the Faces.<\/p>\n<p>With its unique blend of rock \u2018n\u2019 roll roots, Americana and Scottish heritage, Wolfie\u2019s is bringing something new to the Scotch whisky market. Distilled on the banks of Loch Lomond by an expert team with decades of whisky-making know-how and an all-Scottish team behind the brand, Wolfie\u2019s truly has Scotland at its heart.<\/p>\n<p>Referencing the opening track from Rod\u2019s 1991 album Vagabond Heart, the lyrics \u2018Rhythm of My Heart\u2019 are emblazoned on the base of the bottle. Rod\u2019s recording of the song was a nod to his own Scottish heritage having adapted the melody from the traditional folk song, Loch Lomond.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tasting notes<\/strong><br \/>Wolfie\u2019s Blended Scotch Whisky (40% ABV) is wonderfully balanced with flavours of warming cinnamon, fresh vanilla and baked apple (Rod\u2019s favourite flavours). So, I intend to have this dram, four different ways.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Neat<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Neat with water<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>As a Highball<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>In an Old Fashioned<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1. <strong>Neat <\/strong>\u2013 Vanilla,\u00a0 plenty of oak, mild peat smoke, tinned pears in juice, cloves and fresh vanilla pod, the smoke gets a little sweeter the longer it is in the glass.<\/p>\n<p>2. <strong>Neat with wate<\/strong>r \u2013 With a splash of water it certainly opens up, showing more vanilla, sugar-covered sliced oranges, more sweet smoke, freshly charred staves,\u00a0 medium to long finish, oak, vanilla and fruit sweetness linger longest.<\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>Highball<\/strong> \u2013 10 cl of Wolfie\u2019s Blended Whisky<br \/>20 cl of Schweppes Canada Dry Ginger Ale<br \/>Lemon wedge\u00a0<br \/>Plenty of ice<br \/>This is truly a perfect Whisky for a Highball, so easy to drink, ideal on a hot summer day in the garden. It could quite easily make non Whisky drinker into a Whisky lover.<\/p>\n<p>4. <strong>Old Fashioned<\/strong> \u2013 This has got to be my favourite Whisky cocktail.<br \/>One teaspoon of granulated sugar<br \/>1-2 Dashes of Angostura bitters<br \/>Splash of water<br \/>50 ml Wolfie\u2019s Blended Scotch Whisky<br \/>Orange slice<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><br \/>Put the sugar, bitters and water in a small tumbler. Mix until the sugar dissolves if using granulated. Fill your glass with ice and stir in the whisky. Add a splash of soda water if you like and mix.<\/p>\n<p>Wolfie\u2019s blended Scotch Whisky really held onto its core flavours when added to various mixers and also when diluted with water. The blend has many noticible grain notes accompanied with some fresh new notes, grass, hay and spring flowers but the overarching spicy notes of cinnamon and fresh vanilla balanced out the dram well.<\/p>\n<p>A very fine dram for cocktails. The Old Fashioned which I made confirmed that this is by far my favourite Whisky cocktail.
