{"id":56922,"date":"2025-01-30T04:07:32","date_gmt":"2025-01-30T04:07:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/aerospace\/klm-cuts-250-staff-in-drive-to-save-467m\/"},"modified":"2025-01-30T04:07:32","modified_gmt":"2025-01-30T04:07:32","slug":"klm-cuts-250-staff-in-drive-to-save-467m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=56922","title":{"rendered":"KLM cuts 250 staff in drive to save $467M"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has announced that it will cut 250 staff members from the company as part of a drive to lower costs and save the carrier \u20ac450 million ($467million).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerotime.aero\/tag\/klm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">KLM<\/a> President and CEO Marjan Rintel said that measures first revealed in October 2024, to structurally improve its financial and operational performance had resulted in \u201cpainful choices\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>KLM confirmed that the 250 employees work in non-operational roles and the airline\u2019s Work Council and affiliated trade unions have been informed in advance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-1\"\/>\n<p>\u201cOur focus is 100% on laying a solid foundation for a healthy and future-proof KLM. A strong and competitive airline that is appreciated by customers and continues to connect the Netherlands with the rest of the world,\u201d said Rintel in a statement on January 29, 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rintel added: \u201cIt is crucial for our future to structurally lower costs, which involves making painful choices. One of these measures is reducing the number of non-operational jobs, where we will try to avoid forced layoffs, although we cannot rule this out in advance.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In other cost-saving measures, KLM previously announced it would postpone the construction of a new headquarters, as well as investments for two buildings in the Engineering and Maintenance division.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-2\"\/>\n<p>The airline is also taking steps to increase productivity by at least 5% and improve profitability.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Investments are also being reconsidered and postponed, and there is an ongoing exploration to divest or discontinue activities that do not directly contribute to its operations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will approach this process with the utmost care, in close consultation with the Works Council.
