{"id":56676,"date":"2025-01-30T01:29:29","date_gmt":"2025-01-30T01:29:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/aerospace\/boeing-selects-lufthansa-as-777-9-launch-customer\/"},"modified":"2025-01-30T01:29:29","modified_gmt":"2025-01-30T01:29:29","slug":"boeing-selects-lufthansa-as-777-9-launch-customer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=56676","title":{"rendered":"Boeing selects Lufthansa as 777-9 launch customer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Boeing appears to have confirmed that German flag carrier Lufthansa will be the 777-9 launch customer during its latest earnings conference call.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While discussing plans for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aerotime.aero\/tag\/boeing-777x\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"follow\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">Boeing 777-9<\/a> certification, the company CEO Kelly Ortberg relayed issues over \u201cseat challenges\u201d specifically for Lufthansa aircraft.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, actually, the first delivery \u2013 777X delivery is also to Lufthansa,\u201d Ortberg told those joining the <a href=\"https:\/\/investors.boeing.com\/investors\/events-presentations\/event-details\/2025\/Q4-2024-The-Boeing-Company-Earnings-Conference-Call-2025-jwpGQr8r2J\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" title=\"\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">earnings call<\/a> on January 28, 2025. \u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-1\"\/>\n<p>It was widely expected that either Lufthansa or Dubai-based Emirates would take delivery of the first Boeing 777-9, which forms part of the 777X program alongside the smaller 777-8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Boeing recently restarted 777X test flights after a five-month delay, resulting from the discovery of a problem with thrust links during maintenance checks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The thrust link issue was initially found on Boeing\u2019s 777-9 test aircraft after a routine flight, but the issue was subsequently found on two other test planes.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-2\"\/>\n<p>During the earnings call, Brian West, Boeing\u2019s CFO, said: \u201cFlight testing recently resumed, and we still expect first delivery in 2026, and we\u2019ll continue to follow the lead of the FAA as we move through certification.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Ortberg, the Lufthansa 787 remains a challenge due to the seating configurations and the monuments that go around the seats.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re still challenged in getting through cert on some new type seats on 787. We got a plan on that.
